What's Rep ?
Doug

Personally, I think this rep importance on the forum is a little overblown. We never used to even discuss rep until the past year or so.

There is more to life than the rep on AzBilliards. It is nice to know that our forum friends support our opinions and thoughts, but personally, I'm getting sick of seeing rep for this, rep for that, rep to you, rep to him, rep to her, rep to it, rep, rep, rep, rep. :D

I am inclined to think that some must wake up every waking day, login to AzBilliards, and check their rep status before they do anything else.

That said, tried to give it to you, but it said I had to spread it around some more before I can give you rep, Smorgie.

I concur with this. It deserves a rep, but ....

LOL!

What really pissed me off, I guess to put it bluntly, about this whole rep business is when one "regular" forum member thought it prudent to initiate a thread about why my name was in second place for rep at one time when I had not been posting for several months. I mean, I don't understand why the rep was that important to the "regular" forum member, enough to initiate a thread and gripe about the rankings of others.

Maybe AzBilliards forum and its rep is a reason for some to wake up and feel good about life. God bless them, if this is as good as it gets for 'em. :p

Okay ....

but I do not share the same thoughts about rep. Rep has been 'raped' so much, it holds no meaning anymore. It's like bragging about putting a 7 pack on someone when, in fact, you did not, or had ball in hand after every break.

Foolish me, I thought rep was suppose to be given to posters that made insightful, informative, and enlightening posts about Billiards to threads, instead of just handing out to make someone else 'feel good' for bragging rights.

Lets see, we could make billiard tournaments like WWE, so everyone could feel good.

Does the word 'integrity' ring a bell anywhere for you?

Apparently you've been getting the Rep that I've been sending to "the son of the 3 leg, 1 eye dog" that's in your avatar.
Give it to HIM.....that's a good boy, that's a good little boy, let's go walkies.

That would have been me that started that thread....
and dont gimme this whole "Idont care about REP" line .. if that is the case then are you so quick to whip out the red REP as soon as you get ticked off???

It was a legit question... you hadnt posted in a while and moved up on the board...seemed a bit out of place....

I had NOT moved up the board when you initiated the thread. In fact, I had been in second place for well over a month before I quit posting to this forum. Get your facts straight.

I didn't even notice REP until the last year or so. There seems to be a lot of credibility placed in it, and apparently, it is upsetting to people like you to see others like me with a high ranking. Just for your information, I have been posting here since 2004. Do you think that might be why I could have received a lot rep? I guess the 8,000-plus posts might help, too.

BTW, I deliberately did NOT mention your name because you continue to target me, like you do others on this forum. Making pool-related posts seems to be not your forte, but you're sure good at last-minute quips, all for the sole purpose of being mean-spirited.

I'll be the first to admit . . .

I'll be the first to admit I don't take rep that seriously. Sometimes I give it just as the easiest way to send a short note. Rep and two bucks will still buy a cup of coffee if you want real coffee and without some silly stuff on top of it.

Bottom line, rep is a harmless diversion for most of us. I give it to good people, I give it to people I don't know or even don't like for good posts. Keeps the ones I don't like confused! :D :D :D

Hu

(guess even with three smilies I'll have to admit that last line is a joke, I'm on the road with no time for a bunch of back and forth.)

some remember

Some remember the great reports and pictures JAM was providing. Like the guys with TAR and others that provide a great service to the forums, she was bombarded with rep. It is just a nice way to say thanks. Nicer to send cash but we are a tight bunch here!!! :D :D :D

JAM, you haved earned every bit of the rep you have.

Something that started out as an April Fool's joke on a buddy, turned into something I could not live with. I persuaded Mike to go along with my charade and he reluctantly agreed to help me Punk my buddy SmorgassBored.

SmorgassBored was the REP KING and I thought it would be "funny" to see the REP KING de-throned for April Fool so I put nefarious plots in motion to see him taken down a notch. SmorgassBored is the King of REP and the King Maker. :)

He of course smelled a joke, but I wouldn't let on that it was true and I let him set a while, waiting for him to stew but he didn't. He took his de-throning like a man. :D Fellow AZers started complimenting me on my ascension to the throne and it was something I couldn't live with some I am coming clean. It was a charade, a falsehood and I am guilty for engineering this and am sorry. Smorgie is KING!

I think about the old saying by Sir Walter Scott: "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive." It's ironic that all I intended to do was to have a little fun with my buddy and then the deceit turned into something I didn't expect; congratulations from my fellow AZ posters for taking over the throne. The guilt got to me rather quickly and I have tried to right the wrong I have done. Forgive me me or condemn me, it is your right. I'll gladly take Travis Trotter's place as AZ's whipping boy just so long as I don't have to live with the guilt of deceit.

I haven't been sleeping well these past few nights and I thought it was the use of my new 40" LCD Sony HD TV.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

JoeyA (needs his rest)

Wow! That was a good one! You pulled a whole lot of us into the, what did you call it..."the tangled web"....:D

Major kudos to you and Doug for differing reasons. You for your ingenius chicanary and being able to so smoothly pull the Simonis 860 over our eyes here & Smorgie for being a gracious adherant that "second place is no disgrace" mantra.

You guys (and gals :) ) at the top are all equally good representatives of our forum. Someone could throw a blanket (XXX Large) over the whole lot of you and pull one out and whoever it was would still be a good "King" or "Queen."

This every bit rivals the "Who is Walt Frazier" thread when we were detectiving who we thought Walt aka Tony was posting under.:D

This just goes to show you two things.....
1. This ain't your average pool forum
2. Pool players are a LOT smarter than most people give them credit for but just as sneaky and tricky AS they're given credit for!

PS to Mike...Thanks for playing along.:)

USA- "Whole heartedly agree"
Great Britain-"Here, here"
Russia-"Dah!"
Pool room-"Tap-tap-tap"

No matter how you say it Hu, you said it the right things the right way :)

Jennie has been an on site pool reporter, photo journalist, she's given us juicy tid bits from her view behind the scenes and she's always been only nice and cordial to me. As much as she is valued here, she also has been a God-send to the Earthquake and that alone is worth its weight in gold!

Keith

Terry,

You make an excellent point also. Jennie is a valued person in her own right but like June Carter did for Johnny Cash, she seems to keep Keith at least grounded enough that he is still on earth. We almost certainly owe her thanks for that along with all of her direct contributions to the forum.

I'd give her rep for this too but I can't yet. Soon though.
