Congrats to Shane Van Boening! He was selected by Matchroom Sport to fill #4 by being 3rd highest ranked US Player:grin-square:

** quoted from press release**
"The final spot will go to the player who amasses the most votes in a public poll set to take place on the pages of www.matchroompool.com

This will be from a selected list of eight candidates and will be up and running week commencing Monday 2nd November."

** end quote**

I personally cannot wait to see which 8 players will make the list. I will be checking everyday!!!

calling all earl strickland fans vote here to get him on mosconi usa team!

great stuff! BUT if earl strickland is not the final player added to the team, i will be giving the mosconi cup 2009 a body swerve...
everyone instead of dissing earl, please back him up for a change, and let the mosconi cup be exciting! vote for earl here!

i will start the list, if you like earl lets see your name here please, i will start the ball rolling

STEVE MCQUEEN.

I'm a life long hard core Earl fan, BUT, I'm still pissed about the US Open deal. So, I'm gonna wait til I calm down to vote.......but the Mosconi cup would be different without Earl.

Congrats to Shane. He will do an excellent job representing the United States on and off the table. As for the one remaining slot:

I got two words:

STEVIE MOORE

This ad has been approved by the Elect Stevie Moore for the 2009 Mosconi Cup Campaign.

All the Europeans are voting for Earl too!! Whooohoo! They know with his blow-ups and constant distractions the US Team can never win. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

<--Off to write a quick program that votes twice for every other player when one vote goes to Earl, brb

LOL that is funny

Looks like Matchroom finally got one right. It would not have been fair to elect Earl to the team. That being said, the public will probably vote him in even though there are about 10 other Americans that deserve it more based on their performance this past year.

I'll second the Stevie Moore nomination.

I don't know...being a fan of Earl maybe he needs to not be on the mosconi team for his own good. He's really not ready to play on this public stage at this point in his life.We all know Earl can play but that doesn't mean he would be good for the rest of the team. Unless he proves he has his mind under control for atleast a year and act's like a professional player should than putting him on the cup team is just going to further his demise. I really like Earl but if your really a true fan of his than his mental health should be more important than just getting to see him play again. There are alot of hungry young players who truly deserve a chance to play.

i agree with this.

Charlie Bryant would get my vote. He sure seems to have the American Spirt, an what a player. I believe he could help to kick start a winning team.

not that I'm a fan. .

but I have to say... Mills might be great on this team!

well done shane a natural pick for the team, you need him with such a strong european team.

i dont think earl will even be on the list, very sad to say but maybe true, lets hope not, lets hope he gets the chance for the people to decide, he certainly draws the crowd.

stevie moore great pick justin, so tough to beat, also donnie mills or dennis hatch who in my opinion is a great talent, and donnie deserves it after his us open coming so close.

Earl on the time means circus time. He's not a serious contender, just an entertainer.

I think I'll probably vote for Mills.

Good choice. I know Shane will do us proud. Congrats, Shane.

*edit-I say vote Mills for the final spot. He deserves a shot.

Congrats to Shane. His inclusion on the team was a safe bet.

Being on the losing team in the Mosconi Cup still pays $10,000. The fan vote is a $10,000 payday with a chance at $20,000 if the US wins.

If it were up to me, the 8 finalists on Matchroom's list would be the next 8 top Americans on the BCA points list not already on the team - Putnam, Williams, Bryant, Moore, Morris, Davenport, Hatch, and Schmidt.

If Earl makes Matchroom's list, let's see who gets bumped.
