Congratulations Donnie Mills!

...snip...

Eric >told Donnie he can forget about getting a spot from the top players now

LMAO. Donny knocked his own action last week with his play! I wouldn't be surprised if Shane is having serious second thoughts about playing Donny now. I hope some "stipulation" doesn't arise that is used as an out. If so, Donny might have to give Shane some on the wire.

Donnie was the talk of the tournament all week. He was pounding all his opponents with lopsided wins. Even when he played and lost to Ralf in the hot seat match, everyone was talking about Donnie, not Ralf. I had a running dialogue with Donnie all week that went something like this, "Who the hell is Donnie Mills?" We both got a laugh out of it.

Donnie is an easy guy to like; very approachable, humble but proud, and gracious in his victories. He played great all week and had a couple of tough losses. But tough losses are a part of the U.S. Open, the hardest tournament to win in the USA. I just wish Donnie would play in more events. He is a real talent, with lots of courage. He never faltered all week and didn't ever let the pressure of the moment affect him.

He has no reason to feel bad about his performance this week. He played great in victory and defeat. His only losses were to the 1st and 2nd place finishers and both went hill-hill! Donnie Mills proved this week that he is in the major leagues of professional pool. This is one guy who I wish would quit his day job. No telling what he could do for himself and the USA.

Congrats Donnie.........

Somebody made mention to Donnie running 4 racks on Ralf. Then the referee said something about his break speed? Is there a rule about soft breaks in the US Open?
Anyhoo...............Congrats to Donnie, good shooting.

Does this mean this Donny guy is now a professional?

A lot of people forget, he got 9th last year in this event and was even more of a nobody last year. You can't get 9th or 3rd in the US Open and not be able to beat the world.

Donnie Mills WOW

I remember reading lots of posts from Donnie on here and had never seen him play. He lost the US open by a coin toss, i know the pay out is not the same and the heartbreak that must be once you get to where he got must only be understandable by Ralph, Ronnie and Jose. At one point Donnie was shooting close to 950 on the Accustat pro rating, worldclass against the best in the world on the TV table for big money swing not to mention the dream of winning. So Donnie played at the level that only 20 other guys can be his equal in the world today, most of them European or Philipino's and maybe 4-5 other Americans. So whatever he post here in the future is gold.

Congrats Donnie. errr Sir.

More like 5 racks; Ralf was leading 9-4 on the TV table, breaks dry and Car Lot runs it out, and piles 4 more on top.

The rule about break speed is that there are no soft breaks. The only way to define it is by how many balls pass the middle of the table. The rest is tourney directors discretion.

Donnie,
You may get tired of reading all of the accolades but you really gave America something to be proud of.

It would be great to see you on the Mosconi Cup Team. Your PERFORMANCE dictates that it would be the smart thing for MatchRoom Sports to do. Your presence would certainly add some spice to the United States Mosconi Cup Team and help the American Team to a victory.

That's a lot of weight to put on your young shoulders but you have already shown that you can bear an awful lot of weight.

Great Shooting and Better Shooting in the future.

Best Regards,
JoeyA
I think this is a terrific idea. I think the USA would be very well represented.
Although, is Donnie considered a pro?
By that I mean do you have to be a professional that has sponsorship to be considered for the Mosconi Cup?
Donnie has his own business so he may not have sponsorship (or may not need it, I have no idea). Can anyone clarify? He certainly has my vote!
