Congratulations newly minted World Champion Shane Van Boening

They need full seats more than the live gate money I think to create excitement for TV viewers and possibly grow the sport- That crook Trudeau actually paid local Actors and Models to fill the seats for some if not all his events.
That's a good point. Empty seats at a World Pool Championship give a bad look to a Sky Sports TV or DAZN audience. Making sure that the seats are full on a televised/streamed fight is standard fare in Las Vegas, where far too many of the boxing matches don't sell out. Certainly, Trudeau would have been well aware of the practice of taking any extra steps needed to make sure of a full house.

Admittedly, accomplishing this in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire is just a little tougher than filling the seats in a population center like Las Vegas. Let's not forget that pool moved to Milton Keynes because COVID shut down Alexandra Palace and all other London arenas until last autumn.

I have no idea whether this event is staying in Mitlon Keynes long-term or not, but the arena there is superb. If they stay, I think they should find a way to fill the seats one way or another. Perhaps they already realize this.

I remember when this song came out. I can still hear the lyrics:
Not gonna get you a diamond ring
That sort of gift don't mean anything
Not gonna get you a fancy car
Girl, ya gotta know you're my shinin' star
Not gonna get you a house in the hills
A girl like you needs somethin' real
Wanna get you somethin' from the heart
Somethin' special girl...

Maybe some well advertised free buses/vans from London twice going and twice coming. It might work, might not but it wouldn't cost that much to try.

Is it possible that Milton Keynes was chosen over London due to the latter’s high cost of hotel accommodations? I doubt Matchroom is footing the bill for that.

Hey all! We had a fun podcast today in which we all shared our thoughts on the SVB win. I really enjoyed this episode so if you need something in the background for a car ride or a practice session feel free to check it out.

Well done! This is a special moment in American pool history and we can't possibly celebrate Shane's victory hard enough! With the World Pool Masters, the UK Open and the World Cup of pool on tap soon, Shane is set up for a very big year on the tournament trail if he is able to sustain his current level of excellence.

So most players will make a post on social media after a tournament, and thank all of their sponsors in that one post.

I thought it was pretty cool that Shane did that, but he also made an individual post for each of his sponsors.

There was a local person in our Facebook pool group who went live with their phone and showed the entire finals, asking people to share with their friends too. Lots of people tuned into that. Why can't people just fork over the $1 to see it for themselves and help out Matchroom?
Because the world has conditioned us to want something for nothing. It’s not like when we or our parents grew up anymore.

yea, you could really follow the phases he went through, trying to get loose, talking to himself. cathartic, as someone wrote on here.

i don't think i have seen that in that way ever before (not counting snooker). an excellent production by the event promoter gave us a good view of this struggle towards the world title. also pool player podcast on youtube did a great job to complement this, with interviews and analysis.
Yea he even said in interviews he wasn’t playing loose that he needed to start playing loose to play his best I’m glad he overcame and took it down

I was sweating SVB's match more than I sweat my own LOL! What a match though against Albin who is a fine player himself and looking for that third world championship. Congratulations on a well-deserved win Shane! I was very excited he won. (It kind of bothered me, however, that he wore pants that final match, on the world stage, that had a rather large size hole in the front leg, but figured they must be his lucky pants.)

Comparing a backyard stickball tournament to the 10 ball and straight pool world championships Shane won is a little demeaning. When you open an event to players from all over the world to compete and have some of the best in the world compete that holds some legitimacy no matter who sanctions it.
thats what she said lol
