OK, the Appletons are now a married couple. What an occasion it was. My day began with a pleasant enough drive from New York, NY to Bethlehem, PA. My good mood vanished momentarily as I pulled up to the church, only to notice that Charlie Williams had beaten me to a very prime parking space by seconds, but when I entered the church, the smile returned to my face. Darren and Angie both looked magnificent, and the ceremony, which skillfully and elegantly borrowed from both Eastern and Western cultures and traditions was heartwarming.

Darren's ushers, which included "American pool" regulars Jayson Shaw and Jason Klatt, looked spectacular in marvelous tuxedos, but, and I'm sure Darren will forgive me for this, Angie's bridal party stole the show, consisting of ladies so beautiful that you'd have sworn that each of them came out of the pages of a fairy tale.

The evening reception was also very special. Among the attendees were "American pool" regulars Dennis Hatch, Mika Immonen, Hunter Lombardo, Stevie Moore, Sean Morgan, Brandon Shuff, Shawn Wilkie, Charlie Williams and Zion Zvi, as well as wedding party members Jayson Shaw and Jason Klatt. Also present were a) NYC Grind's Geoff Conway, b) Accu-stats founder Pat Fleming, c) Eddie, the popular proprietor of Sandcastle Billiards, d) Manny, popular proprietor of Steinway Billiards, and e) Matchroom Sports' Ted Lerner. Other well known insiders in the American pool circle who were present included Larry Ross, Ravi (the best dressed man in pool), and Ed Culhane. No doubt, I'm leaving some people out, but then again, I did have a few drinks, so this must be forgiven.

After being skillfully introduced by Matchroom's Ted Lerner, Darren and Angie gave great speeches but the best line of the evening belonged to the best man, who, to paraphrase, related "when Darren showed a few us a picture of his new girlfriend a few years ago, we all said 'yeah right' but Angie turned out to be real."

It was a festive evening befitting a truly joyous occasion and I'm proud to have been part of it. To the bride and groom, may you know nothing but good health, good times, and good fortune.

Also worth noting is that Darren proposed a toast to Mika Immonen on his recent election to the BCA Hall of Fame. Classy move by Darren for sure.

What happened??

This is a happy congratulations thread, not going to clog it with negative details. I probably shouldn't even have posted what I did, but saw what happened on Facebook about it and felt the need to mention it (stupid I know). Let's just say a POS did a hack on his account on his wedding day, and we will just leave it at that.

Congrats the Darren and Angie. To many years of happiness!

I had a great time at the wedding. The whole day was beautiful. It was a great time and great seeing people I only normally see at a pool tournament. It's nice to see them in a different venue.

Our table for dinner.

Darren and his ushers went 3-0 today at the US Open, but they still didn't look as good as Angie's bridesmaids.
