Consecutive 9-balls on break

I was playing a 9-ball session the other night & my opponent made Five straight 9's on the break. Granted we were playing on a bar box with a heavy cueball, but I still thought that it is very unusual to make that many in a row.
Has anyone seen more than five 9's on break in a row?

Nope! I made it 3 times on a 9 footer but scratched on the 3rd.

I was at a tournament in the early 80's in Kokomo, In. Race to 7 loser breaks. One guy made the 9 -- 6 times on the break and lost. His opponent won the flip and every time he broke, he ran out. Sounds incredible, but I was there. 5 in a row is still incredible too. Sam
 
Did you check the rack. From what I have been taught, if the wing balls are not frozen to the 9, the 9 is more likely to fly.
 
The owner of the local pool hall (a very nice 70 yr old man) and myself where playing scotch doubles one night with 2 other regulars.

Race to 7, I made the 9 the first rack then we combo the 9 with the 2 ball the 2nd rack. After that he made 5 straight to end the set 7 - 0 in about 10 minutes. Total of 6 nines and a combo nine.

Just for the hell of It I racked them one more time and he horned it. The two players we were playing where very suprised. The younger of the git all pissed off pakced up and went home.

Probably a loose rack. Check the two balls behind the 9 for a gap.

The 9 seems like it goes on Valley bar boxes more often when the cloth is a bit worn and you break from the head rail, right down the middle.

My record was 4 in a row on a 9ft Gold Crown... what made this even more amazing was that the pockets were really tight (extra shims i believe)

Since then, i've had 3 in a row once and 2 in a row multiple times
 
Earl made a few when he won that million dollar challenge.

It has been speculated that he had rigged the rack though :o

Not seen, exactly, but I think Myron Zownir claims 7 in a row. I'll try to remember to re-read his book.

If the nine ball went directly into the pocket without getting kissed in, the rack was loose. On some tables, because of the craters in the rack area, the nine ball racks dead. I think making lots of nines on such tables is not too interesting.

I saw Marcus Chamat make the 9 twice in a row during the UPA tourney at the Bicycle Casino a few years ago. This was using a Sardo rack with the 9 on the spot. Making even one 9 ball with that setup is unusual, but 2in a row is extremely rare.

On a loose 9' table with 5" pockets I've done 3 times in a row once just practicing by myself, and very occasionally 2 times on a 9' GCs.

I've seen some of the "helpers" (ie: hot rack girls) using the Sardo do a poor job of it and leave gaps. On the replays you could clearly see a small gap behind the 9 and the 9 just cruised into the corner without any kick.

They should abandon Sardo and use "rack spots". So much better.

i have made 5 in a row. i also have lost a race to 3 onthe break.quick 50 out the window. i have made 3 eightballs in a row on the box.same side pocket.:D

The particular occasion I am thinking of occured when either the players were racking their own or their opponents were racking, I forgert which. The "hot rack girls" were only used during the televised final rounds. I absolutely agree that, putting aside the pointless mysogeny, it is ludicrous to have a person who is presumably not any kind of Pool player in charge of something as important as racking in the finals of a major Pro tournament.

I'd think I'd take Steve Tipton over one of those models anyday, just as long as he doesn't wear that swimsuit again!
 
I did two in a row, on a 9' GC. After the second one, my oponent said, sarcastically, "let's see ya do it again." I did it again, making it three in a row. He quieted down a good bit, after that. I won the set too. I love knockin' nines in on the break. :)

Bar box results are pretty meaningless in most aspcts of the game.

Here is the formula -

m = number of money ball breaks
b = bar table wow factor

b = m/5 :p :D


I've had several 2's and a couple 3's on a 9' (real table).

Im sorry but this seems too outgragious.

If this really happended then when he left the pool hall he was hit by a car...for using up all his luck in one liftime on 9 of 6 nine ball breaks in a row.

The most 9's on the Break i ever made was 2 in a row. It was a brand new
Gandy "Big G" table 4 1/2 X 9,with nice fresh felt & clean brand new Ball's. I broke from my usual spot 1/2 way between the spot & side rail, Cue Ball on the Balkline, on the right side of the Table.
The 9 went in the upper right corner twice in a row, then on the third break it hung in the same pocket for an easy combo.:)

Last week was a good week. I made the 9 on the break 3 times. Twice one day and one the next. My 9 Ball break is working great. My 8 Ball break sucks. I can't make a Ball. I break and the Ball's are wide open, but nothing goes in. That really pisses me off.:mad:
