Considering a Restore on My Meucci Originals MO-3

I sent a message and these pictures to the Contact Us email on the Meucci Website on Wednesday May 11th. Anyone know what a reasonable time is to expect a response? I'm thinking I should hear something within 2 weeks.

I asked about cost to restore and if restoration was possible. This was purchased from the first batch that came to Nashville in 1975. My memory seems to think they had a factory in Memphis then, but I could be wrong. I wanted one with points, but I was poor and this was the best I could do. I played with it for several years, but it's been in storage since the late 1980s. (Kept in a climate controlled space in an It's George case.)

I don't think it's worth much, but it has sentimental value.

Anyone think it's just not worth the money to restore? What's reasonable (needs a rewrap, shaft collar fixed and a refinish) - about $250?

I know someone that asked Meucci about refinishing his at SBE last month. The guy told him 2 years, I sent him to Proficient.

beautiful old meucci original-the meucci market is up/down-I follow it and have for years.
Proficient will do great-Scott Erwin and frank buddy Keller will do just as good-the latter two have fb presence.
that cue restored typically sells at about 400ish on fb forums

That’s good info, also. Thanks!

Just my worthless 2 cents but you should never be thinking about "Is it worth it?" when considering getting a cue restored as the practical answer for any cue that is not super high end custom or from a famous cue maker (usually retired or dead) is always going to be a resounding "No!" The real question you should be asking yourself is this; how badly do I want it looking as new and pristine as possible?

As for getting it restored, I can't speak to Meucci's process or quality of restoration so I won't even bother. I never liked them enough to ever have to worry about having a cue to send back to them.

I CAN however speak to the quality of Scot at Proficient Billiards, which is fantastic and bordering on magical. I had an ugly long scratch on the finish of my Mezz cue which happens to be a harder to find Ebony butt and wanted to get it fixed. Logically speaking, it wasn't worth sending off, fixing, and sending back, but I really liked that cue and knew looking at the scratch would hurt and bug me, so off it went. I got it back and it was as if the scratch was never there! I could only show before pictures as I have no idea where the scratch would have been anymore due to it being really dark Ebony.

DO NOT send to Moochie. Proficient does great Meucci work. https://proficientbilliards.com/cuerepair/index.php?/category/265

I did hear back from Meucci today. They quoted a price that seems low to me, but that becomes a moot point if you may never see the cue again.

From Meucci repair: "rewrap refinish, 120, collar replacement 36 each..plus return shipping"
