!!Contest - Pick 2016 US Open Winner!!

Who Will Win 2016 US Open 9 Ball

  • Total voters
    106
  • Poll closed .
I'll go with Wu Jiaqing to win the US Open. Fargo says he's best and so do I.

With a field this strong, however, about fifteen players would seem to be serious contenders for the title.

Final score?

In the past 8 years, whenever the title of US Open 9ball champion has changed hands, that person has always won the very next year (or in Shane's case the next 2). Any number of players have a good chance of winning, so I'll just go with Cheng and say the pattern continues.

Final score please?

I made a change to the OP. If multiple people pick the same winner and final score, and it's correct, the winner of the contest will be determined via a random drawing.

Also, there are a lot more votes in the poll than posts. You can't win the signed copy of Banking with the Beard if you don't post who you think will win AND the final score.

Ha. I haven't thoroughly checked, but I think most major events in the last 10 years have been won by someone on this list.

Could be. But I've got the other 135 guys, right?

[Edit -- guys and gals]

Well statistically you're probably right, but how do you bet against trends?

Speaking of gals. Both Centeno and Corr were in the list of top 50, but didn't make the cut for the top 25. Which is unfortunate, because I really think Centeno is going to make some waves, but rules are rules.

I went through the current player's list.

Found all the players that are currently top 50 in Fargo Rate. There were 37 players. I narrowed that list down to 25 due to Poll limits.

So pick and post who you think will win out of the list I've provided, and also what the final score will be. Race to 13 on final day; must win by 2 games; 14-14 is hill / hill

[REVISED - SEE BOTTOM]
In the event that more than one person picks the same winner and score. The prize will go to the person who posted first.

You MUST pick the winner AND correct final score to win. It is up to my discretion to change that if someone is really close.

If there is a winner, I will send them my signed copy of Banking with the Beard. Shipping Included (if within the continental US).

I think there may be some last minute withdrawals since it clashes with CBSA Miyun Open in China. http://alison-chang.com/2016/09/17/2016-cbsa-chinese-pool-international-open-miyun-event/ This was Kevin Cheng's first big tourney win last year
Top prize is $35K . Some players may weigh that better to play Miyun Open with strong field in US Open and weaker field in Miyun Open

Anyway , this is too hard to call . More than 25 players can win which you cannot fit in. But my guess is a Euro will win this year since the break rules similar to Mosconi Cup
But then again a Taiwanese may win or a Pinoy may win or Shane may win .
I will only guess the score 13-8

My head says Wu but i need to pick countryman ...
Mika 13-7
At least he have been working with his game and even some wins lately :)

Wu, 13-7.

Tough field this year, probably the toughest US Open ever. Too bad we are missing a few of the younger elites from the Phillipines like Ignacio and Chua.

So many brilliant players. I don't think anyone could be said to be a clear favourite. I'd say Wu is due, but somehow I don't think it's going to happen. IF I was going by "math" I'd say he was the favourite, but I'm not going to do that. I'll say Niels..by two games. It's a pure, near random guess and I like his game and personality. There are at least 5 others I think are equally likely to win, maybe even more than that.

Sorry to nitpick. But do you want Niels 13-11, 14-12, or 15-13?
