Corey Deuel looking for game at Fiddlestix's next week

It's a game he's already won at too i believe. Giving Brian Groce the 8 on a bar table. Ask him about it.

He's got action. I heard about that game from Strong Arm. Talked to Corey and he said he would play again. We tried getting down with Brian a bunch of times but I guess Brian didn't want to play. I even brought Niels down to Indianappolis to try and match up with Brian and we couldn't get a game. If he wants to come down to Canton next week he's got that game for at least $10,000 right now but after I talk to a couple people, that could very easily move to $25,000 + amc4

JAM- Please tell me that Keith and Corey were out golfing when they took this photo?!? A top ranked Professional pool player proudly supporting our sport of billiards...wearing a "Titleist" hat! I have nothing against Corey, golf or Titleist, but comn' wear a Brunswick, Jacoby, Hustler, Predator, Simonis or something related to billiards! I think this is where the newbie to pool can lose interest, JMO! Now, if their on the golf course, then this comment is void!

Again, nothing against the names mentioned, just that it shows we don't promote our own sport when the opportunity knocks!

Thanks,
Zim

That's the only hat Corey had to match his 5280 shirt that he is wearing. When Corey was with 5280 I never saw him out in public without a 5280 shirt or jacket. amc4

I will take the ghost on Chris's front table and Corey can play the game he beat at Derby city (all 15 in a bottom corner). Last time he was up (a couple of weeks ago) I proposed the game to Chris but I think Corey wanted to try it the next day. I talked to him for about an hour and mentioned a few times I would try that game. If he is interested in trying it Szuter knows how to get a hold of me. Let me know by thursday otherwise I am going to atlantic city this weekend.

He will not be down with Gabe until next week. Chris and I will be in Canada. Have fun in Atlantic City and we will discuss something next week. amc

Wow, Corey will take on all comers playing even, and expects to get a game. Maybe he should go to Disneyland instead, as his mind is obviously already in Fantasyland.

That comment was for the top players in the world, anyone else can get a spot. amc4

All right, I'll bite. How much is he giving up? :p

The best he will do is the last 2 or the called 8 for Keith. If that's no good maybe we can work something out at Derby City. Shawn Putnam will also be down with Gabe, maybe Keith might want to play one of them. Right now I can only speak for Corey but if Keith wants to play Shawn or Gabe I'll have to talk to them first before I could make a game. amc4

See if he''ll play an old guy (78) in Detroit the same game they broke even at a few years ago?

He'll know who I'm talking about and before he say's anything about it, I'm sure the guy plays better now (LOL).

Always think marketing...always.

Corey is wearing a pool shirt in that picture. 5280 was his line of cues. amc

they just golfed together in calgery. he will know :D

Corey knows him and said he plays real good, the most Corey will give up is the call 8 on a bar box. If that sounds good we can work out a game if not I tried. amc4

It just seems hypocrtical IMO

That pic was taken at the Big Apple tournament at Master's in NYC about 2 years ago. This was the year of the big black-out in the Northeast. Nobody could fly in or out, there was no electricity in New York City, and overhead highway signs on New Jersey Turnpike warned incoming travelers: "Avoid New York. Avoid New York."

Then-UPA President Charlie Williams was lucky to get in the city, arriving a little late due to travel nightmares. If memory serves me right, he had to play with another cue stick because his luggage was lost. He ended up winning it! :)

It was kind of helter skelter that weekend in NYC. What really impressed me the most, though, was seeing the great spirit of the New Yorkers who refused to let this stop the tournament from moving forward. Almost 100 players in the tournament, quite a few folks were missing their suitcases and cues that weekend! :(

Corey, like Keith, most likely picked out that hat because it matched his yellow shirt, but he only wore it to the players meeting, the day before the tournament. If you could read the one Keith's wearing, which also matches his shirt, it says "Belmont Stakes." I think Keith has got a hat in every color from every horse track in the U.S. :p

When the sponsored players are in competition during the tournaments, though, they're definitely wearing the patches and shirts from their sponsors proudly.

I like seeing the Hustlin logo, which is becoming increasingly more popular in my neck of the woods! I got a T-shirt for my daughter in Valley Forge, and now all of her friends want one (LOL).

I have seen other threads where you support the Hustlin theme and for the life of me I do not understand. You and others in this forum continually talk and write about improving the image of pool and work hard to accomplish that end, then you turn around and support one of the biggest things that is negative about pool and that is hustling.
"Hustling, gambling and playing for money"
Copywrite 2003 Jim Loy
The title of this essay is "Hustling, gambling and playing for money." Many of you think this is synonymous("mean the same thing" for you pool players)

"Hustling has given pool a bad image. Hustling is a con game. It is when you disguise your skills in order to beat the other person. If you have lost at pool, you have not necessarily been hustled; its hard to tell. Hustlers often look unskilled, and demand a spot(often an advantage of a certain number of balls). Money is almost always involved in hustliner, but that is not necessary. Hustlers also emply "sharking" which is any kind of unethical method to put the opponent off his/her game, like distracting or being a jerk or blatant cheating."

I have nothing against the people who started this company and logo and wish them all the luck in the world as this is a free country and to each his own but I cannot support it as I long ago tried to help the image of pool by not hustling. Hustlin is used in other ways also that are not positve. Prostitutes and Johns use this all the time in their profession. I am not a do gooder at all but in business, to support such a negative image is not what my business is about or the image I want to support. Tony Chohan and his group wanted me to sell their product and I refused for that reason. I know it could be all in fun to some extent but not everyone will take it that way.
I like their product, not their logo and I would not buy my grandkids such a shirt, especially my granddaughters. You can agree to disagree if you like.

I thought that Niels played George B. when he went to Indianapolis. And i guess Corey has had a change of heart at the game, cause I heard from his mouth that he didn't like the game and wouldn't play, but, i'm sure now that he's getting a 10,000 dollar free roll his mind has changed. But hell, who wouldn't try and out run the nuts for free. :)

amc, can you please let me know on this thread what day corey will be at fiddlestix once u know? Canton is an hour drive for me and Szuter is sick of me calling and asking if any pros are up there. I would be thrilled to come down and watch.

Thanks very much,
Henry

Other than being labeled as "hypocritical," a word bandied about on discussion forums quite frequently when one disagrees with another's opinion, I read your post with interest, Nfty9er.

When I see the Hustlin logo, I am not visualizing roughnecks strong-arming weaker players or conning and sharking others for their monies, just as I wouldn't think that a person who is wearing a Harley Davidson T-shirt is condoning any negative actions of a biker group known as the Hells Angels, even though 99.9 percent of the Hells Angels' members seem to ride Harleys. In my neck of the woods, the bikers have become quite philanthropic, donating toys to tots and the like. There are actually senior citizens riding Harleys now who join groups of other like-minded Harley riders for treks cross-country. They like the Harley-Davidson brand.

A friend of mine drives a Volkswagen. This company supported Hitler's charge in Germany some years ago and exploited human beings, using them as slaves in their factories. Many folks refuse to buy their products because of this. When I see a Volkswagen, I am reminded of the days when long-haired hippies from the Woodstock generation drove Volkswagen vans with peace signs and flowers, and I don't look at the Volkswagen drivers as Nazi supporters.

The Hustlin brand is an American clothing line which offers hats, T-shirts, polo shirts, sweats, and coats to pool folk in a variety of sizes and colors. I like the Hustlin brand, and it seems that there are thousands of others who do as well. Because I like the clothing line does not mean I condone cheating or sharking. The mere mention of the image you portray relating to this clothing line seems ridiculous in my mind, but I will take you up on your offer that we can agree that we both disagree. :p
