Corey is a looser

Conservatively dressed for a pool player, he doesn't look loose to me! :D

I did not see the match but Gama lost against Pagulayan yesterday 10-4 I believe. For somebody that plays only 2 to 3 tourneys a year in the US he did OK.

Yes, he did do okay. I was pulling your leg about the spelling of "lose." ;)

I read that he was from Portugal, though I have not found a whole lot of information about him on Google. I tried to find out more, but came up empty.

Do you have any information about him? I would like to learn more about Manual Gama! :)

He mostly plays and on major tourneys in Europe as well in the Eurotour.
He did an awesome game with Corey with quite a few safety battles beween the two.
He is the only portuguese pro player. He got 3rd last year on the Predator 10 ball.

If Gama is such a great player, what's he doing on the looser's side? :D

Really, the thread should have stopped here!

Any and all attempts to be humorous could not surpass this one!!!

Hats off, Mike.

But rack-for-each-other is probably one of the most illogical rules (or regulations) in any sport when you think about it. These guys are trying to make a living on their performance at the pool table, all of which depends on the break they get, which hinges on the rack they get, which is determined by the one person who wants them to fail the most. WTF? Since pros understand how much better and more predictably balls spread from a tight rack, they have serious financial incentives to demand the tight rack they are entitled to. JMHO.

They were playing rack your own in this tournament. If the 10 ball is made in either of the corner pockets by the rack you don't win, it spots up on the break.

The time I mentioned about Corey being anal about the rack was when the tournament directory was racking for both players in the final at Valley Forge two years ago.

I agree having your opponent rack for you in major tournaments doesn't make much sense.

Thanks for the clarification, Mars Man. :) I kind of understand them being a little picky with a 3rd party racker too, even though the imperfect racks should theoretically even out between the two players.

It seems that the rack is like the final frontier in pool, where even people who have high level knowledge in every other area of the game may not necessarily have the same level knowledge of the rack.

Of course, I know nothing of how they choose and/or train the 3rd party racker, but I would imagine that he might miss an important gap that Corey happened to catch.

Anyway, I hope my post didn't come off as argumentative. I think I'm too passionate about the issue of racking. :o :)

Those writers enjoy one-upsmanship with their piers. ;)

Pool and Billiard, Hamster Tales by David Malone.

In hardback and softback.

How about one of your pool stories for the AZ Forum, David?

Got any new or old ones that you would care to share?

Unsportsmanship for Corey. He has been sharking Gama since the first game. Either is not racked well or Gama is doing something weird. Let me tell you Gama got 3rd place last year and he is a 10 ball master and shot maker. Corey does not know how to deal with pressure and should be taking the same medicine as Strickland.

Excuse me!?!?

Now I'm confused. Is this thread referring to Corey Deuel or Corey Harper??

"Our" Corey was just jealous of the other Corey getting painted with mud and was feeling left out. :D
