QUOTE=shortman]I am very interested in using (trying out) a G-10 Joint. Any experiences out there? Also was curious if anyone has tried the G-10 joint with either phonolic or G-10 layer tried on the box of the shaft to go along with the G-10 Pin? Any info would be greatly appreciated, just sound like a better mouse trap to me? Also has anyone tried this or the combo with a solid ivory joint? Should be an awsome hit.

Is that a g-10 Radial or etc. pin on a an ivory joint with the shaft having a (phonolic box or a G-10 box) should have a superior hit to the same combo with a wood to G-10 hit. I have a masters in Math and Bs in physics and it just makes sense to me and a I would dearly love to give this combo a try. I think it could truely be a better mouse trap, with a medium controllable stroke like no other. I have disscussed it with my son (a PHD in Mech Eng out of Purdue and he is of the same opion). We are just testing the waters out there if any thing has been along these lines. I do not think that any thing but the the right combo of aged woods and these materials could aford the hit we have been talking about. But imagine a medium stoked low english shot hit with a quailty stick such as a Steve Kleine going 18-20 feet with reasonable controll on a 9-1/2 foot table. This could make pool fun for for a whole new group of players that would never even try the game. This is the reason I was testing the waters to see if I could get something out there to try and see if it could be improved on.

another reason to get together!

My personal stick has a G-10 pin and Ivorene IV collars on the butt and shaft. The pin screws into a tight hardened wood socket, no insert, with a short pilot section. An Ivorene IV ferule also and a Moori tip. This was just a cheap stick that I was playing with but I like the hit just fine for my style of play and I'll be building myself a cue with a similar set up when I get time. This stick is a bit on the light side, my choice. I haven't put it on the scales but my guess is between 16-17 ounces.

The cue has a medium hit that is close to what I like but I want to try different tips when I get time. Sending you a PM about the tip.

I just saw a Durbin on the for sale board.

I have a RC3 with a G10 and a few other cues with various joints and pins. I have yet to find any combination or any particular joint that really has any affect on how the CB or OB behaves.

There are too many other variables that can affect how a cue feels.

I honestly could not tell you that I can feel any difference between using a G10 pin or a metal one. I also let a lot of players try my cues and none of them have ever remarked about the joint feeling any different or better. The only comments I ever get about a cue is concerning the weight, balance, tip size or shaft taper. Plus many saying "Are you crazy?" when I tell them the cost of the cue.
