Could Joe Rogan help with pool?

My post was more geared towards how golf, the game and equipment are cousins and how it’s popularity and money sheets on pool and was there a way to ride their coat tails.

Most good solutions start with great questions. You seemed derailed about fuc yourself daddy. I won’t try to understand that.
My apologies for looking past your post for the most part, only seeing a trigger word – bad place for me.

There is a parallel though, a caddy/golfer and the butler/shooter(cueist).

A large portion of pool players certainly appear to be attracted to golf. Whatever crack a golf course offers seems to share some of its chemical make up with billiards.

Pool's heyday was during the depression and up until TV was everywhere. The two boosts were movies. Could Tom Cruise resurrect pool with a second showing? He's nowhere near the star of a Paul Newman. And since Covid the movies aren't a big draw. I like Joe doing Earl impressions
but only pool players have a clue there. No it requires a new boxoffice block buster. And how long lived is that?

The best chance for Rogan to give pool a boost is if he creates a separate podcast or a regular segment about pool. I don’t think there is anything else he can do outside of what he has already done. He could have Jayson on the podcast tomorrow and some people would “oh that’s cool” and then maybe go to the pool hall the day after. But that’s about it.

To be totally honest he is pretty much a self-centered prick. I wouldn't see him doing anything for pool and for that matter why should he, what's in it for him.

He is the biggest media outlet in the Untied States and possibly the world. Even fox doesn’t come close and they are second in ratings.
In the World? Maybe the USA.

Cricket in India dwarfs anything. Worldwide over 2 billion fans who follow cricket religiously. And that's second to Football (soccer).Sports shows in China draw over 75 million viewers.

He doesn’t come off that way in hundreds of hours of footage of him talking to all kinds of different people.

I’m sure you could make a highlight real of some bad moments and make him seem like a dick but ...

I don’t think there’s much he could do for pool. I’d like to see a couple pool players come talk to him and tell some stories and whatnot but people that aren’t into pool would likely tune out until the next one.

I went and found that episode with Justin Collette but it’s only on spotify and that’s a pita without the app. Justin is a big dude. He towers over rogan

Considering Rogan is a pool fan himself and a.veteran of pool halls and tournament spectating, why would he even attempt at trying to fix pool when he himself knows all of the problem the sport represents?

Maybe he can have Barry hearn on one day and talk a bit about pool and snooker, but I bet he'd be more inclined talking about hearns' career overall than just the pool part.

As a private club, a better level of overall competition. Anyone willing to commit to a couple thousand
dollars annually is surely a more serious minded and likely stronger overall pool player. The facility and
equipment would receive more care and attention since every player has a vested interest in keeping the
place and equipment in tip top condition. Table availability could be 24/7 with keycard access and CCTV
to ensure members don’t abuse their membership privileges. There wouldn’t be deafening music played
like at so many pool halls. There’d be the sense of being a elite pool player, like Cypress Point Golf Club.
You don’t get to play there unless a member invites and accompanies you for a round of golf. The same
would be true for a private billiards club. Take out some 9’ tables and add a 12’ snooker & billiards tables.
It would be so much more pleasant, cleaner atmosphere and more available than just going to a pool hall.
I LOVE the idea of that!
but it would require a moneyed environment, I suspect.

I think that is the most“viable” gameplan I have ever heard for re-growth of pool popularity.

ESPN.com is a favorite website, but very few people under 55, especially in urban areas subscribe to or watch cable or broadcast TV.

ESPN may be the correct entity, but not on cable, if you want the younger generations.

Personally, I only know one person in the 50 and under who uses cable or broadcast TV. Everybody I know uses streaming.

But, by all means keep thinking that you know best, keep marketing it to old white dudes. I don't care, I'm fine just playing pool.

But, by all means keep doing what everyone else does.

How many channels in China? Curious

All folks who follow the same media religiously are sheep. I follow no one. I analyze the data from many different sources and form my own opinions. Rush Limbaugh (rip), Joe Rogan, Fox News, CNN News, most churches, etc-- all too one-sided. The world is full of 7 billion different people. There is no "right way" that covers us all. Anyways, if any of you readers are at all wise enough to comprehend this then I will tell you the sad truth: billiards in the USA will not grow without major national youth programs like the ones they have in Europe and Asia. In the US, pool is a bar/parlor game, and less and less young folks hang out in bars that have billiards equipment. Most of the (very few) top young US pool players are kids who had parents that own bars/pool halls. That's not going to fix US pool lol. In summary, no US youth players programs, no US future. And yes, our other big problem is that only pool players will watch pool, and that number in the US is dwindling.

The problem with Pool as a TV sport is that even among the vast majority of players, it is a participation activity not one they want to watch.
Ask around at your next league or tournament. I find that very few players follow the sport. Few even know who the pros are or how they are doing. I hang out with a lot of very active players, there are only a couple that can have a conversation about the pro scene. The rest only know Efren or Earl.
Not sure how you expect to bring in huge numbers of viewers when the people who play the game don't care to watch it. And no, ESPN isn't the answer. Very few people under 40 watch cable tv. Streaming is the future, viewers will have more options to watch what they want exclusively. It would be nice to be able to pay for one stream to watch the pro's but there is not currently a tour. So we are stuck with 100's of different streams to find and pay for. Having one or 2 would be better. The quality would improve. Look at Matchroom or Accu-Stats. To me, these are the gold standard. Camera work and announcers are tv production level. All the other streams with one camera position and announcers reading the chats need to die off or be free streams on facebook live.
