Could Joe Rogan help with pool?

I know he has said in the past the problem with trying to have a podcast with pool as the topic would be too short or not interesting enough.

I get that but with Jayson now having the top run in 14:1 and Rogan being a decent player that understands the game do you think he could make it happen?

If not I would like to see maybe a mini episode with him and Jayson or any other top player. Joe Rogan has 11 MILLION viewers for every podcast that he does!!

I know he loves the game and has a big heart but what do you think he could do to make it interesting enough? I personally think you would have to have some of the old time guys talk about their road stories. Nothing I’ve ever heard is more colorful than a good road story!!!

Thoughts…..

No. People don't watch Rogan for pool content. Even if he talks about it occasionally or plays himself, his platform isn't about pool. He's making bank, not promoting personal things he likes for altruism.

Until pool gets tournaments coverage on TV, cable or public, no single person can lift the game’s popularity.
The only thing that occurs is folks that connect in some way with that individual would become very interested.

Unfortunately, the rest of the potential viewers would be indifferent and not watch it. The game needs coverage
first and then promotion thereafter. A perfect forum would have been if it was included in the summer Olympics.

Joe Rogan doesn’t have a large enough following and for that matter, which prominent personality today does?
Billiards isn’t even promoted or covered as a collegiate event. High school teams would be a great starting point.

Who watches TV or cable anymore? Oh, right, stingy old people.

Face it, pro pool missed the boat. Or better, it was on the boat, let the hull rot, then didn't get off when the rescue came.

Very well said .. perfectly said actually .. it’s just a game for 95% who play it .

How big of a following does he need?

He’d have to show up to a big event or two a year to promote pool.

It would probably be a mad house the times he was on site. At that point you’d have to hope that a fraction of the people that would show would grow an appreciation for the sport.

He would only have to spend a few minutes on his podcast promoting the event.

It would be slow, but effective.

Big personalities that have an interest in pool outside of their professional lives (sports, actors,,,etc) would help little by little. Maybe donate a nice cue for their time and trouble?

Pool wont gain in popularity without coverage. Coverage won't happen until it gains popularity.

Was it the Chicken? Or the egg?

The weird thing, at least for me, is that I don't need to watch pool live. The F1 Championship, NFL, NBA I want to see that in a timely fashion. I guess a large part of that is that a pool match is not culturally significant enough that I am missing out on the "event". I can see thousands of great matches on youtube so I don't need to watch the event live. I guess the low risk of someone asking me if I saw Shaw make that bank shot to win makes me safe from spoilers.
