Countdown to Mosconi Cup

All is well....BUT, it could be better!! (If I was in Malta!)

Hope things are going well for the two of you!! I miss you guys on the tourny trail.....

I sometimes miss the tournament trail, but the thing I miss most is seeing folks like you. There are some aspects of the tournament trail that I definitely do not miss, though, mainly the expenses, time away from home on the road, and sleeping out of a suitcase.

Whoever said there's no place like home got it right. I never knew how much I loved being at home until I went on that pool tournament trail. :o

Our household financial status today is in the green since we have refrained from going to two, three, and four tournaments every single month.

Online poker seems to be more profitable than pool for our household. We don't have any traveling, lodging, and miscellaneous expenses, other than entry fee, and the chance to win a big chunk of change is pretty strong. If you come in first, second, or third place in one of these online poker tournaments, depending on which one you're playing in, it could be quite lucrative.

That said, I know my room mate would pack his suitcase in a heartbeat if we could go to a pool event. It just isn't in the cards for us right now [pun intended]! :grin-square:

Ratings excuse?

You mean just toss out the player with the highest winning percentage ever? The guy who'll pack EVERY seat during his match?

Matchroom Sports is built to make money....Earl guarantees $$$$$$ in thier pocket.

Is it that hard to figure out?

Nope, not hard to figure!

Thanks for sharing this with us. I know how difficult it can be to provide updates on site and try to enjoy the event at the same time. Bravo to you!

I didn't know that Tony Drago was the "world's fastest player." Hmm, wonder if he's faster than Luc Salvas or a few other players I know!

Ironically, Ripley's Believe It or Not TV show did a feature episode on the fastest pool player, and the two players selected were -- cough, cough -- Johnny Archer and Jeremy Jones. LOL! :grin-square:

I'm not knocking my Team USA members today, as I want them to win, but those two are probably two of the slowest pool players in the world, IMHO!

That said...USA, ALL THE WAY!

haha No problem...

Don't mind doing the updates but don't know how I feel once everything starts...
Internet is not really quick at the moment...
And the press room's airco is working really well..
It's so cold that I can't feel my toes... (Am wearing flip flops though lol)

Sorry for the quality but it's recorded on a small little cheap camera as I wasn't really planning on making a high quality movie or trailer lol

Thanks....

Thanks...it's funny though!

I'm the same way....I love seeing the people. The ones I don't usually get a chance to see. Getting older you can appreciate a good friendship a little more, and I try to take advantage of every minute I can.

It's pretty cool seeing so many friends all in one spot, and getting to spend a week with them. And not to mention the POOL going on!!

Sure wish you guys would jump in the car....ONE more time, real soon!!! (like next month!)

hahaha
I did do some updates of the Mosconi 2 years ago as it was in Rotterdam but I wasn't there myself..

I did shoot a video of some people in a bar but that was in Spain during the Eurotour...

Start tomorrow at 8 pm Local time...
There's a players reception tonight to which I'm invited so I'll try and sneak some video's and photo's in while I try to get some drinks in me...

What is the time difference between Malta and Eastern Standard? @ 7 hours? So an 8 pm start = 1 pm "here"?

Thanks!

As far as Earl, most promoters want Earl Strickland because his very presence brings attention to their event.
Very presence = shitty attitude.

There are a bunch of better qualified American players out there who would be a better choice.

And I get it Jam. I know its all about Matchroom wanting to get people to watch and make money, and that's shitty for all the other talent out there that should be in Earl's place.

It's obviously not that hard to figure out since I said "ratings"... getting people to watch.

..and yes I mean toss out the guy you mentioned. The same guy that yells at the crowd, is belligerent towards his opponent, tells any entire foreign city "they suck", acts like a child by slamming his cue on the ground or throwing it.

Earl is an embarassment to the event and an embarassment to American pool and our country in general when he represents our nation in events like this and the WPC. When people from other countries think of American pool, the first person that pops into their mind should not be Earl. Unfortunately it probably is, and more then likely not for his current playing ability, not when there are others who are outplaying him that should be there in his place.
