Another situation that is fraught with perile is when the people running the tournaments start buying up the field in auctions. This practice will end bad, sooner or later, for someone.

It doesn't matter what a promoter does, someone is going to take exception to something and most just want to hear themselves talk!

It is an auction, why should anyone care who bought whom. The one who makes the highest bid wins. Why should it matter who does the bidding and or buying! i just don't get it!

just not sure yet. I have been trying to play some but struggling with motivation and playing badly. When playing so badly, it isn't much fun!

I have ran and been to a lot of tournaments in my lifetime and only two tournaments come to mind where I did not participate in the Calcutta. I will not say where but the first was a full field limited to 32 players.
Here is what happened, the TD had already drawn up the board and posted it so everyone could see the time and whom they were playing before the Calcutta. I told the TD (which was his first tournament) that this was not the right way to run a Calcutta, so I choose not to participate after looking at the draw. He had the top local player seeded with players with less skill than him and the better players were all in the same bracket.

The second was that the tournament flier did no advertise a Calcutta, but the TD was talked into doing one after the draw had been done. Again I spoke up and said this is incorrect, but they went ahead and held the Calcutta and again I choose not to participate and as my luck would have it I finished 3rd and cost me the Calcutta money of $535. I had been in every Calcutta since that time if ran correctly.

I'd say that 99% of all Calcutta's ran today or on the up & up, the ones listed above were when the Calcutta's were just starting up in pool in the late 80's when I started playing again.

JR has made some awesome improvements to Deep Pockets!!! In addition to adding 16 Diamond Barboxes and 4 Diamond 9fts, he will be keeping the Brunswicks too!!

Has has also added a stage area that we will be broadcasting from and there will be bleachers on 2 sides of the TV table!!!
