does this normally happen? isnt this the part that absorbs all the energy? i've seen tenons getting chipped but cracks on the colar? not just one buy 2 cracks on opposite ends. what could've caused this? poor shaft wood? poor construction?

i don't it is because of misuse. its a break cue btw.

It is caused by LEANING on the Q, when you break. If you weigh 175 lbs & the Q weighs 19 oz....THE 19 OZ. LOOSES...JER

Yep. Bending the cue on the table during the break Mike Siegel style. This is also why sneaky shafts with no joint collar don't usually last.
