The ref made a good call. Actually the original shooter could have easily made the object ball by shooting across it at a slight angle. It would have double kissed into the pocket. The cue ball would have gone down table somewhere near the eight ball. No matter, he won the game anyway.
 
On that last kick shot, why do amateurs insist on going through so much theatrics on simple shots?

That kick shot was not simple. The object ball was almost totally inside the points. And the guy shooting it is a former world trick shot champion. He can give most on this forum the seven and never be in trouble. He was doing what most of us should do.... Taking enough time as needed to be sure and not taking it for granted.

Some people like to take any opportunity they can to perform for the crowd. It obviously doesn't help you make the shot.
 
He had an incredibly unusual situation. I don't begrudge him any extra time at all to explore every possibility. Cool video.

I don't see the problem. It was exactly 30 sec. He would have been within the Mosconi Cup shot clock without an extension.
 
Most places I gambled at, years ago, would've allowed this hit....
...aiming at the ball dead on, cue in grand massé position...left hand english....
....double kisses in.

Technically a bad hit, but ANY massé shot is....but it is allowed.

Interesting situation. My try would be to shoot a masse shot nearly straight at the 14 with left draw. I think that would have squeezed/spun the 14 into the pocket.

I watched it a few more times, and you're right, John.

I would have shot it much quicker and had the same result, but your buddy was definitely not "Sigel-ing"

Sure, but most places you gambled at years ago didn't have Jimmy Moore to shoot that shot.
