CSI 10 ball

Problem is, round-robin with 1 guy advancing from a 4-man group is pretty close to effectively being double elimination, except some players will be eliminated after only one loss based on tiebreakers. I think double elimination would be better than the format being used for CSI, and I say that despite not being a big fan of double elim. They could also go WPC-style and do the groups in double-elim as opposed to round robin, and then still do single elim for the final four. Either of these formats would be about the same number of matches overall as what they are doing with the round robin groups, but would be cleaner without the tiebreakers and the meaningless matches.

2 out of 4 rather than 1 out of 4 advancing is closer to double elim. Most groups will have 2 clear advancers except for rare 3 tied I.e. 3x2-1 and 1X0-3

the fact that Ko could lose because he lost more games to the worst player in the group and he could have had a big margin against the 2 better players that would mean absolutely nothing in a first head to head tiebreaker

I guess I'm the only one who understands me

You initially talked only about how one group compared to another, which had nothing to do with the topic you were trying to discuss. You did eventually make mention of the tie breaking within a group as was being discussed, and I should have acknowledged that (although you never said why you thought it was unfair or wrong, and didn't offer what you thought they should do for the tie breaker instead). My apologies. My issue was that even then your main focus in each post always seemed to be about how one group can be more stacked than another group which was still unrelated to the topic yet you were discussing it as if it was the same topic.

Anyway, to address your point above, the players understand that they are not just playing to win matches, but they are also playing to win as many games as possible, because they know that will be used in the case of a tie, and there is a good chance for a tie. If KPY went home because he had a tied win/loss record with someone, but lost his head to head match with that person, I see no problem with it. It is the fairest and most logical way to break the tie. The other guy was better that day if they had the same record but he beat KPY in their match.

And if KPY went home because it went to a tie breaker for most total games won, then it is KPY's fault for not winning more games. The other guy that won more games just out played him. He won more games. Again, this is the next fairest and most logical way to break the tie. If two or more players tied in their win/loss records, what do you think should be used as the tie breaker instead of the result of their head to head match or their total games won?

If Corey wins Busty has to hold Shaw to 7 to to go to the next tie breaker.

If Corey wins and Busty beats Shaw 9-6 Busty advances

So is there actually any chat?

Does this guy yapping now need to micro analyze every single bloody shot?

I'm not sure but I think if Corey wins no matter by what score and if Busty wins 9-7 he and Shaw will be tied.

Ken: "I think that was the case of too much adrenaline"

And maybe you standing there and talking to Jayson while Busty was breaking getting into his head just a little?
