Chopping

I think any player(s) chopping the prize money in the Finals or earlier should be barred by the individual promoters from any future events they are having. Chopping negatively effects Calcutta's and live streams as well as the integrity of our sport in general!

Tour

With the need for a national tour to ensure not only men's pool but women's pool as well has a sustainable future, has there been any attempt at a legitimate sit down and/or conversation with the major league entities ( I.E APA, BCA, NAPA, ACS) to try to work together to form such a tour?

A good topic might be the US Open experiment of limiting the field to 128 this year and whether it's a good idea or not.

I would like to hear more about the usapl.

-What is the format for the local league night?
-Do you need to qualify for the national event to participate?
-Expansion plans? What can we do to get it in our area?
 
Tight vs Buckets?

Last podcast, you both discussed how table difficulty may or may not attract players. This is just a little about my area that may interest you and pertains to this discussion. I live in a suburb of Charlotte. It is not exactly highly populated nor is rural. This particular area mainly has amateurs, non gambling players. Heavy APA presence.

We've had three decent pool rooms close in the last year. One had more than 15 Olhausen Champion or Grand Champion tables, one with 7 AMF (like the GC3's) and another with 4 Diamond Bar boxes.

The only place left is a room with home-style Gandy tables with bucket sized pockets. The owner keeps the tables up well. They also push their league play. There is one table that is shimmed, but basically is still very large pockets. And almost everyone, including their best players there hate playing on it and it's not even easy as a 4.5" GC. This place thrived before the closures and continues to thrive.

The quality is that the owners take care of the equipment... cleaning balls everyday, cleaning Simonis cloth everyday, and changing the cloth regularly (with a highly skilled mechanic). Quality is not the ease of shotmaking or size of pocket. It is playing on level slate, true rails, clean decent cloth, clean balls, etc.

It appears that most amateurs prefer making balls to challenging their individual skills. Unfortunately.

The Action Tour

Ozzy, are there any plans to add more events to the Action Tour schedule in 2015. In 2014 there were 9 events plus the season finally. All the events I attended and/or played in had roughly 60-70 players. Have you considered bi-monthly tournaments or something close to that or are you satisfied to continue at the current pace. It seems with the level of interest from players they would support an expanded schedule!

Great job, Ozzy, as always. As I've said for years, Mark and his staff represent the very best in American pool on so many levels.

As the podcasts confirm, your organization's long-term habit of publicly soliciting and addressing feedback from those with whom you deal is one of the things that makes CSI so informed and so responsive to the needs of its customers.

CSI is a giant in American pool, a forward thinking, well organized operation. You, Mark and Justin are doing more than your share in keeping pool vital in America, and it is appreciated.
