CTE Aiming

I think another big thing is just plain closed mindedness. I mean, I can aim, you can aim, we all can aim. But if you're not aiming the same way aiming works for me, then it's on. We can no longer be civil, we must see who can piss the farthest! Wind direction be damned! ;)

In reality CTE works, as does any other aiming system. There are good "tidbits" to it that aren't necessarily included in other aiming systems. There's no real point in bashing systems because we all see things differently, and all can work. It's nice to have other flavors of aiming out there but it's not nice to get all tribal about them. Aiming is basically the NPR political thread of pool. I'm right, you're wrong and vice versa. 😅
Closed mindedness is a problem, but it is on the CTE side. I and others have given Stan et al absolute proof that what they are saying is false. They attack the messenger and stick their fingers in their ears and shout Na Na Na. When you challenge a religion... that's when all hell breaks loose.

If a guy is selling a product under false premises I think that's a problem.

Fair enough! :)

Hopefully JB can shed some light on the subject. If you want to do some research,
or you can also check out https://www.youtube.com/@jbcasesoriginal . He has several videos there but you may have to browse on there a bit.

The thing is, CTE seems pretty dense (as in info packed) at first. It's kind of an enigma, but if you take the time to work through it with an open mind, there is a ton of good info and ideas there. Stan's book is pretty much the definitive tome on the subject. It takes work to learn but if you take it a bit at a time you can crack it. It takes a willingness to learn.

That said, and I say this with absolute respect for the system, if you're already even semi proficient at pool and aiming, it's probably less helpful than if you were just starting out.

In my honest opinion most of us know how to aim, the real tricky part is that speed and spin have as much if not more to do with making a ball than aiming does. We've all thrown a ball offline and missed due to spin or speed. A lot of times even if you hit a ball too thick or too thin has as much or more to do with speed/spin/deflection/cling/table conditions/cleanliness of balls. There's just so many variables. You can minimize variables by not using side spin, or to put it better, severely minimize the amount of side spin you use.

I put myself on a self imposed "fast" of not using side spin for about a month. Vertical axis of CB only. I'll be honest, I learned more in that month than I learned in several years before that. When starting out, once I learned spin I never shot a shot without it. This left a huge hole in my understanding of the game.

Good luck and may your stroke be true.
I just did the exact same by taking a month off of side spin, I learned that you rarely NEED side spin and when you do need it less is usually all you need, after the side spin sabbatical I find I'm shooting center ball probably 65 to 75 percent of the time.

All aiming/alingment systems are simply tools to get you the right feel to make your cut.

CTE is just an over elaborate system that takes work to understand and effectively apply....not that it "can't" get you the correct feel...it is just a bit more than is necessary to get the job done........IMO.
Just a bit?

it’s like reading war and peace in braille the way the c. t. e. people go on and on and on

not for me, gotta keep it closer to efren’s elaborate explanations- i got lucky

Curious Total Enigma, which is what CTE is to me.

PerfectAiming is MAGIC, Black Magic.
Perfect aiming is shooting a squirrel's head at 30 yards with iron sights on the old .22LR.

It's the same as shooting pool. You gotta practice, you gotta control your breathing, control the tension in your body, control adrenaline, and hope the wind isn't too strong. And it doesn't hurt to be quiet enough to sneak up on the squirrel or patient enough to wait for it to come to you.

Not many people go out and do it on the first try, it helps to plink around at some old cans to begin with.

The power of suggestion, or just a good framework to start out with is strong. 💪 It doesn't really matter what flavor you use but you have to put the work in. :)

What did that nice little squirrel ever do to you? Shoot them with a camera! ;)
