CTE PRO 1: My review.

All the arguing is really silly when you sit back and look at it. We all get caught up here on the forums but I bet face to face people would probably get along fine - we all love this stupid game after all.

CTE/Pro One is not for everyone but statements like it doesn't work or it is a sugar pill (good one) are what people get offended by - Stan has dedicated a large amount of his time into this and it is complete and it works as described.

Nobody has been able to show one shot that does't go with CTE. I am talking shots that would normally go with any other method of shooting.

It isn't religion but people are passionate about it because of the time they put in - I am one such person. I have connected with it and shoot every shot this way now. To the observer you cannot tell I am using any system.

It is obvious that many posters in this thread and others wish to do nothing more than stir up trouble - if you do not wish to learn try not to derail those that do.

Keep in mind solid mechanics are still needed - it is an aiming system, not a magic SVB pill.

BTW - I would love to hear more about the system you use also.

That's the truth...I don't know how many times I've ask myself ,self ,you do realize your arguing over aiming .Crazy ..crazy.

Yes, I do talk to myself, gotta talk to someone smart.:)

It truly depends on how much people stick with something whether it be Pro One or anything else. Over time the competency grows.

I assure you I am a much better player because of Pro One - I just had a 15 pack vs the 9 ball ghost (hung the 7 for more) and I could not have done that before. Of course there are other components of the game equally as important.

I am a good local player is all and I noticed a big improvement in my own game. Other folks that wish to learn this system may have the same results - people put in different levels of effort so it is hard to compare.

I hope people will either try or leave it be but bashing it when you clearly do not understand is just plain silly.

Cheers,
Gerry

I'll take that as a NO. :shakehead:

Michael Jordan could dunk from the free throw line because he wore Nike.

Cancer has been cured by the power of positive mental attitude.

Placebos have conquered pain.

And balls have gone into pockets because someone has aimed at the reflection from the table light on the object ball, and lined it up with that same reflection on the cueball.

There will be another system that comes along after Pro1 that will up your 15 pack. And you'll swear by it as well. Same with the next cue you buy will be the best cue you've ever owned.

One day, you will take the red pill and figure it all out, Neo.

Ok - thanks for clearing all that up for me.

The great Burlington, Ontario. Did you want to write me a letter? ;)

If you'd like to know what I'm talking about, I'm not being a jerk, or trying to sound smarter than those that believe in aiming systems. I'm one of those people that actually got the privilege of speaking with Hal Houle at length.

There is a little known book by a guy named Vincent Pocenti. It's called The Ant and The Elephant. It's a really good read. And it precisely explains why any "system" will work in any walk of life.

No letters. I am in Ottawa, thought we may have crossed paths is all.

I never spoke to Hal but I have spent time with Stan. An old friend of mine from back in NL Tracey Croke is down that way now too I believe.

I doubt we crossed paths. When I became a father back in 2003, pool took a backseat to being a husband and father.

Quite frankly, I gave up pool about a year and a half ago, and have enjoyed time away from the game. I haven't picked up a cue in over a year now. Literally haven't hit A BALL.

I came back to laugh at JB, as I think the guy epitomizes everything that's wrong with pool and pool players. Going to sell all of my remaining cues, except one, and ride off into the sunset.

I used to be one of the guys that argued over aiming systems, jump cues, etc. Now, I'm truly too old (42) to care about trivial shit like this. But, here's the lowdown on any aiming system you choose to use. The brain can handle about 4000 processes per minute, on a conscious level. At the subconscious level, it's around 9 million. Thus, the "ant and the elephant". Suppose an ant is standing on an elephant's back. The ant chooses to walk east. The elephant, however, is walking west. Which direction is the ant really walking in?

4000 vs 9,000,000. Figure out who's boss - your conscious "aiming system" mind, or the subconscious "I've learned from every single shot I've ever made or missed" mind. You choose to believe what you believe. I can't tell you what's right for you.

Too old - lol, I am 43 ;) and a father too.

Any system moves to the subconscious mind once it is truly learned - I couldn't agree more that if one was going through thought processes over every shot they would fail miserably.

Anyhow - all good man. Enjoy the ride and family.

Buried in snow here - hoping for a hint of spring.

I got a "new to me" CBR600F4i at the end of last year. I hear you with regards to this winter. We got more snow last night. Ick.

Funny. Stupid, but funny. You sure you're not from Newfoundland?

Really? This is the best you could do? My 10 year old could have made this joke.

Did you know the toothbrush was invented in Indiana? If it was invented anywhere else, they would have called it a "teethbrush".

Has there been a single testimony by anybody that could show measurable improvement? I mean, has there been an APA 4 that's been stuck at that for 10 years, suddenly improve to an APA 6 after a few months of learning this? All I've ever heard is a ghost theory.. "prove it doesn't work". Barton practiced it for years, improving 2 balls every 6 months and his high run was 5 balls in 15 games of 1P. I want to hear something more than a sales pitch.

Just look at Gerry's videos from when he was first starting with Pro One to now. Clearly, he was already a good player, but you can easily see improvement from then to now.

I've been using Pro One since November 2012. When I first started I could barely beat the 4 ball ghost, and had an average of 4 to 5 balls in 14.1 Now with the limited amount of practice time I have (5 to 10 hours/week), I can beat the 6 ball ghost and my average in 14.1 is up to about 8 balls.

Now I won't give all the credit to Pro One. I also spent a lot of time working on other areas of my game that have led to my improvement. The biggest benefit is that when you're using a system that allows you to pocket balls at a more consistent rate, you are then free to work on everything else.

Finally, your argument can also be applied to another method that almost all naysayers attest to; that method being HAMB. Obviously, plenty of players over the history of the game have reached high levels using HAMB. However, for every player that has, I can find hundreds (if not thousands) of players that haven't. Players that have hit well over a million balls, and have not had any significant measurable improvement.

Does this mean HAMB is worthless and doesn't work? Of course it doesn't. You see, it doesn't matter what you use. What matters is how you apply what you use. Pro One works 100% as advertised, but it won't make anyone a world beater overnight. It's an amazing system, but only a small drop in a big pond.

LOL. That would be Tennessee my Newfie friend. But still funny.

Look, when I traveled to Canada frequently in a previous career, it took me awhile to figure out wtf with all the Newfie jokes. Haven't had a chance to throw out Newfie for quite some time. I have to get in practice soon as I'm going on a golf trip with a bunch of the old Canadian buddies in the fall.

Aye dair, bye. You been kissin' the kippered cod?

It's an East Coast thing. They have the Acadian accent. And they speak Franglais...a mix of French and English. Just because they're different, doesn't make them stupid. Southern Georgians and Texans don't sound like Thespian scholars either. Doesn't make them "stupid".

I heard the toothbrush joke for the first time in Mobile, Alabama. I used to work in the US 5 days a week for a year. There are nice people everywhere. Newfs are Newfs. You have some wonderful people in Louisiana. I wouldn't dream of insulting them.

No doubt. It's Pollock jokes in the States. Never understood that either because the majority of the Polish people I've met were better educated and quite bright. It is what it is. One of my offices is in Birmingham, AL, I love the people there. I'd move there in a heartbeat if my wife would go for it. Bought a bar there 3 months ago with 9 pool tables that my Son is running. Might make that move yet somewhere down the road.
