At this point, my joint is still 0.870", but the 'A' joint location is not set in stone. If I have a piece of wood that has a particular feature that can be included by moving the 'A' joint, that's what I do to improve aesthetics. With a constant taper butt, the location of the 'A' joint matters less.

Hey,
I think if you do a search you'll come up with a bunch of cuemakers giving their dimensions. Dick is precise and informative in his answer. It varies greatly from cuemaker to cuemaker. Probably no correct answer.

ALL of my BLACK HEART cues have the same dimensions.

57 1/2" from butt cap to to end of ferrule. (29" shaft- 28 1/2" butt, straight taper)
Handle has a tenon into the forearm, on plain janes & reverse for cues with points
I have 2 shaft tapers (1 for break sticks & 1 for playing cues)
Ferrule length for playing cues is 3/4" long Juma, with a through hole
joint is .830"
butt is .1.255 - 1.260"
