Cue extension

My friend asked if I could build him an extension like the Mezz extension for his Predator. I searched and found you can buy a Mezz kit but I don't know if the extension kit includes a pin. I have some nice straight grain maple that matches his Predator that I can stain. I know you get the bumper in the kit but what else it includes, I have no idea.
If anyone has experience with the Mezz kit or any ideas on how I can build my buddy an extension, I'd appreciate it.

I don't know where the Predator weight bolt is but was thinking one could insert a quick release insert in the butt (possibly thru the bumper) and a pin in an extension. I do have a few quick release pins and inserts from Schmelke
so was hoping I can make those work.
Thanks

The Mezz extension set comes with a bumper (X-Bumper) that accepts the pin that is on the extension itself.
Don't know the exact thread count on the pin but it is a pretty fine thread, similar to 5/16x18.

The weightbolt in a Mezz has a threaded hole that accepts the X-Bumper.
You also get an Allen wrench in the set to fasten the X-Bumper into the weightbolt.

the x bumper doesn't really screw into the weight bolt itself. it screws into the but of the cue. it's threaded to take the bumper

x bumper

Mezz X bumper is threaded and won't fit a predator. The x bumper just has a brass threaded collar in the rubber. They ask a fortune for the extension $100 MSRP! I have a Mezz and want the extension, but now way am I paying > $80 for an extension.

Aren't most Predator cues just a push in bumper? As pictured above you could make an extension with a long threaded pin that enters the weight bolt threading after drilling trough the bumper. Weird, but it works.

i bought mine on here for less than 80. of course when i'd done that i'd already paid 80 for one. i just bought the one on here because it was a good deal. it's worth it imo though. i've made shots that make or break the set because of mine.

which mezz do you have? for anyone that cares the limited/special edition cue that mezz made for predator will take the mezz x bumper.

I have had 2 or 3 people bring their X bumpers to me with ripped threads for repair.
If the cue allows for it, I put in my own brass insert and use a large rubber washer or very thick leather instead of a traditonal bumper.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to know if anyone knew the pin size of the Mezz pin. I'd prefer to use that if I can as then I can turn my own extension.
I'll have to make a call on Monday and see if the kit includes a pin.

I like the looks of Chucks handle and with the QR pins I have from Schmelke
if the Mezz idea doesn't work, I'll fashion something with those.

The pin is a 6mm x 1.00 and the bumper screws into a M14 x 2.0 thread. The cheaper Mezz cues have the threads in the wood, the more expensive cues have a phenolic collar that is threaded for the bumper. The weight bolt is an allen head screw that fits down below the threaded collar for the bumper to screw into.

Thanks Kenny and everyone, I appreciate the input.
The General is going to see if they have some extra pins. If they can spare a few, I will buy the proper taps, if not I will do something along the line as Chucks.

sir,

sorry for the late reply. we are so loaded and i'm also spending so much time looking for a job. i can spare you one pin for you to at least pattern from. the pin is fit for the Mezz-X bumper. you can ask any machine shop to reproduce it for you. i have a cue shipment to the US most probably mid-May, i will just include it in the package. i will just ask a favor for our customer to ship the pin to you then. at least the pin is already inside US, and will be so much easier and cheaper to ship to you.
