Cue has a 'ping' sound to it when it's vibrated... maintenance required?

Not when I'm shooting balls.. but if I bounce the but on the floor or tap the side of it it'll make a sound like it's not solid. Any ideas?

Also, in this video during the slo-mo part, you can CLEARLY see that SVB goes side arm (also). As does De Luna, Varner, and others... I feel like this is the method to master. Agree or disagree?

Thanks!

Wait which video. Break video I'm guessing? You're saying SVB sidearms his break a bit?
Actually yeah he does a little - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxZP-JS4g5s

He tucks in his elbow, which is one of the recommended stance tweaks Joe Tucker
mentions in his second racking secrets (should be breaking secrets) video.

Sounds like a "buzz." Will not necessarily affect playability or longevity. May be a loose glue bond in the splice or veneers. It is not so uncommon in older short spliced cues. Some builders will warranty this sort of thing...not all do however. Get it checked out by your local cue maker if it bothers you. Be sure to disclose the sound when selling the cue (if you ever choose to). I had an old Joss that played lights out for 30 years that had a buzz for that entire time... it only became aparent when I hit the joint on the heel of my hand. Nothing is perfect...but some things are close enough to win the cash.

I have a cue with a rattle in an A_joint ....it bothers The heck out of me so i made it a break cue.... great breaker now......just replaced the ferrule with phenolic and put on a white diamond tip...

Sometimes if the rubber bumper has a screw in set up it can get loose and make a pinging/vibration. Tighten it up

Wow... I am surprised no one has suggested the ferrule or even the tip. I have fixed many buzzes by re-gluing the ferrule or replacing the tip.

cuebuddy> 8 hours of sleep will fix some buzzes also.
