Cue ID Help... (possible west coast maker) very odd cue

Joe contact Bert Schrager, Harvey Martin did some similar modifications on some of his later model cues. This was done so that the balance point could be moved to the front or the rear by the player.

I may be way off base, I know it doesn't look like a Martin but who knows.

Do you have a working ouija board so I can talk to Bert? :D

Yeah who knows. I think it was probably a "prototype" that got loose.

I would love to match up the "hallmarks".. pin in shaft, that flaired cap, style of inlays.. gotta be another one floating around somewhere...

Sorry about that I forgot, man it sucks getting old!

Could it be an old Sailor cue? Those were often made with flared butt plates. Other than that, I'm stumped as well.

I thought about that with the flaired butt cap...but it is flaired differently that a Sailor cue and nothing else looks Sailor to me. At this point any guess is probably good though, and Sailor is West coast.....

Don't know who made it but it rolls very good, slight tweak at the nose, shafts are good. Hits very solid when the musketball rod is not in place.

Here is a cue, in curley maple. Floating barbells, backend with bordered pearl racetracks, delrin cap.. cue has 60's/70's feel. Maybe the ring above the wrap and below the wrap would help ID this unknown beast, or the short delrin joint ring. Delrin butt cap. When I get the cue in a few days, I will post important pics.. butt cap / joint etc..

Cue is coming in a Whitten case, but the owner was an ecclectic collector and case could have been bought off ebay for all I know...

Early Cal Hedden? There's one on billiardcue.com. He seemed to be doing some pretty creative stuff.

Well I have two responses that it very likely an early Robinson. I was told by Paul Rubino, that he had an early Robinson made for someone named Tony, that he would swear was made by the same guy. In fact he has the butt cap from that cue and tells me its identical to this cap, minus the split and hidden compartment. Someone from the net also said it is indeed very similar to his early Robinson.

The search continues.....
