What to do when a cue maker doesn't live up to his promise? Keeps making excuses why the cue wasn't done. After 8 months , agreed to refund the money but only refunded $1200 of the $2100. Claims the rest was a down payment and refuses to refund it. His excuse was I cancelled the order after all the broken promises.

What you should do is publicly out him, and sue him. If it is 8 months past the due date and he refuses to refund all your money, then assuming there isn't more to the story like he told you that it could take significantly longer than the date he hoped to get it to you by, or you kept asking for changes to the cue or something else where you are partially or fully to blame for the excess time, you probably have almost no chance of losing that court case, especially if he doesn't deny when the promised date was. Based on the limited information you provided I don't see that he has any moral or legal standing to keep any of your money--none. And you shouldn't take it lying down either.

Unfortunately but also very true, you should consider yourself VERY lucky and be thankful for the $1200 ya got back, not kidding bro. I consider myself VERY lucky I have not ever had this happen to me. I can tell you FOR SURE, I would not be as cool, forgiving, understanding, etc etc as all the others that have posted similar experiences . I can also tell you I would not handle the situation the same as all these other gentleman . Not trying to be a dick, just being honest . Anyway at least you got a good portion back and don't have to be chasing for years to try to get a dollar back. Sorry bout what happened to ya, don't know whoever it is but sorry for ya none the less. I will say the same thing that I had said about the thread about Earls behavior - until some type of real consequences are realized these Jerk offs will continue with the same be over and over again. Take that how you will, but that is the sad reality.
 
you have been on this site for 5 years and havent figured out never to send that much money other than a small deposit to anyone connected to pool. or for that matter anyone at all that doesnt have a real business with a store front and employees.

keep demanding and threaten to out him here and sue him. and say you are pressing charges for fraud with the police. then immediately if a check isnt sent start following through or you get what you deserve.
search and find his home number and leave messages there and his personal address and mail him.
 
It wasn't me it happened to but a friend of mine I just recently ran into. There are countless text and broken promises and was asking for some advice.

This changes everything. Second hand information is dangerous. If I were you I would stay out of it unless you were there for every single verbal and written interaction between the two of them....which I highly doubt.

Sound advice but how could he 'get what he deserves' regardless how he approaches this situation. What he deserves is the cue he paid for or all of his money back.

I think the point he was trying to make was along the lines of " stupid is, stupid does ". While no of course it is not right I'd say most if not all on here should know by now you never pay up front for something and as soon as there is a problem steps need to be taken or you should know that you you are for sure gonna get jerked off ---- but you never will get to come.
 
He works for a very well known cue maker and is doing work on the side. He is telling people he can make a cue with their Technology at a fraction of the cost.
 
I agree people on here should know better. This person isn't on this site and was referred by a friend. I'm just on here asking for advice to resolved this matter in a positive way for my friend

Honestly bro; with the limited knowledge we have been provided, I do honestly believe at this point the best thing you can do is provide his name. You really have nothing to lose but everything to gain AND you can do a solid for all of your forum brothers. I know you're probably thinking that if you hold off giving the name that it's some kind of leverage but in reality it's not. We have seen it time and time again here on AZB. Truthfully more times than I can remember but what happens EVERY single time is the cue maker makes countless excuses over and over again and the ONE common denominator is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ever happens UNTIL their na,email is posted here. Like I said holding off posting the name gives you no leverage what soever. The only leverage that you really have is posting the name and updating what happens. Once posted it lights a fire under the cue maker ass and they will finally do SOMETHING to keep their names off of the front page of AZB ( their core demographics of their chosen profession ) . So either they do nothing and they are outed here and it significantly hurts their living, OR they make it right and that is posted and the thread dies and everyone moves on. Not telling you what to do bro but honestly if you are looking to get this resolved as quickly as possible posting their name up here is the only move. As I said, the threat of doing that means absolutely NOTHING. If you chose to wait you will find that out for yourself. Whatever you decide to do I wish you luck my friend.
 
$2100 for an apprentices cue compared to the teachers is a substantial amount. His teacher must be a well known maker. Be careful and think long and hard before you out him. Have you talked to his teacher?

i have often sent more than that to various pool cue makers
and i have often been treated poorly
missing deliveries by years

it takes out the fun of it
as a group i would say there are a few great ones that do what they say or explain good reasons

the great ones in no particular order are
jerry rauenzahn,bob owen,south west, barry szamboti,bob runde and others probably that don't pop into
my mind

there are many famous ones that i could name that are unreliable to dishonest
 
He works for Black Boar and his name is Bernie. Not 100 % sure but I heard from several people that he is doing this without Tony's knowledge.

Well I'm not sure how someone would be able to without Tony's knowing but if that is the case THATS A HUGE DEAL and while I'm not one for ratting anyone out something like this if it's true should be brought to Tony's attention ( by whomever this was done to ) because as one of the top cue makers in the world his reputation could be seriously and permanently damaged.
 
I think you are unfortunately out the money. Sorry, it stinks. Perhaps down the road he will make it right, people all go through bad patches.
