With the advent of CNC and as cheaply as it has become a person would be absolutely foolish in investing any money in a stand alone shaft tapering machine that is not CNC. They can be had for nearly the same price and you could then have 10,000 different tapers instead of being locked into only one with out major time and testing procedures. I've got two saw type shaft machines that do a splendid job of tapering but to difficult to change tapers, will be scrapped as soon as I get my CNC 4 shaft saw machine completed. Only way to go.

The great thing about manual taperer though Dick, with 9/16 20 screw, it's pretty easy to dial in to the final size ( say .002 over final size ) .
If your cnc can hold that, I'd really wanna know your controller.:thumbup:
