I traded a new cue for this old cue.
Palmer Model 14 3rd catalog
Any advice on restoration and who to send it to would be appreciated
Overall it's in decent condition, but it needs work, and I don't like the wrap.
I have some old green spec that would look great on this cue
.

Those are pretty vinyl WICO points. Don't know if I've ever seen one of those prongs on a 3rd catalog cue. It almost looks like it could be a variation of an 1st catalog #5 with a 2nd catalog style butt sleeve. Butt cap looks awful short for a 3rd catalog cue. Very interesting cue !!

Aside from the wrap and bumper, the cue looks very nice. Anybody should be able to handle the work, but on Palmers you can't go wrong with guys like Steve Klein, Ryan (ratcues), Scot Sherbine, Andy Gilbert, Jim Buss, etc...imo.

You can't go wrong with Scott, but it looks like you won't be needing any "Palmer" parts, so there are lots of people that could do what you want and the cue will pop.

WICO!

Very nice. No let me take that back. Beautiful cue.

Personally, I would never restore a cue in that's already in that condition and I would agree with Sean that it's not a 3rd catalog cue, but a 1st catalog or mid-catalog variation.

Ted,
Sweet find.. Congrats!
Tough call, refinish, or not refinish??
I do agree with you though, the wrap looks like ass..lol

Plastic Is The Future, Son.

Here are the after pictures. Unfortunately you pulled the before pics. :-( But honestly, the before pics didn't represent the work required on this cue.

Paul Drexler did the restoration and did a beautiful job. This is my favorite Palmer. I love the way it plays, or rather how I play with it in my hands. I reluctantly put this out for restoration because I didn't want to be without it.

This is one of my most special Palmers. Thanks again for parting with it. As you can see, it came to a good home.

I guess the pics disappear when I delete them from Photobucket
Who knew

Very nice, I'm happy you have it, and only mildly jealous.
Well deserved for sure, you did a classy job plucking this cue away from me.
