Cue sale question

Hello all,
I had an interesting situation come up, and thought AZ might be able to steer me in the right direction.

Recently had an aquatince that asked me help him sell a few cues. As he was someone that I've done a few deals with I told him that I would list, take pictures, record all the spec's of a few cues that he wanted to sell and put them up on AZ for sale fourm, and for doing so, I would keep 10% of the total price. No problem with any of the above, on either of our parts.

Well, we met up and I got all the info for the cues he wanted to sell and posted them in the "for sale" fourm. After this was done, a guy from the pool hall (that knew both of us) asked me to send him the info on a few cues that he was interested in, i did so, and told him if he had any further interest to let me know. After he received the info from me, he cut a deal with the owner of the cues, and neither of them said anything to me.
I feel like they cut me out of the deal, as I won't get my 10%. Neither of them said anything to me, except the owner of the cues telling he to take that cue off the market.

Am I wrong for feeling like I am owed 10%? Feel like I was cheated out of some money. It's not like i need the money, as I was just doing all the leg work for the guy because he asked me to help him.

What would y'all do if you were put in this situation? I'm thinking about telling the owner to shove the rest of the cues I'm selling for him up his ass.

Looks like you got cut out. Walk away. You don't need to know or deal with people like him

Did the guy that bought the cue find it on AZ to buy or did he just buy it after talks at the pool hall or something. If you were the middleman in the transaction because he was getting all the info from you thru pm's here or the sale thread, then I think you are owed the 10%. If it was discussed elsewhere then I don't feel you are entitled.

As far as selling the rest, I'd probably continue to do so unless it happened again. The owner possibly gave him a crazy deal if they bypassed you.

Looks like you got cut out and probably won't be friends much longer... If you sell one of the cues, take 10% of that one.... Then take the 10% you are owed from the first one YOU sold for him, and hand him the rest with a detailed pricing sheet......

He lied. He said he was "taking that cue off the market". Selling it is not taking it off the market, keeping it for himself is taking it off the market.

Jon --- Since "the guy from the pool hall" contacted you directly to send him info on a few cues he was interested in (and not going directly to the owner) I feel you are fairly owed the 10%. Simple gentleman's agreement. The troubling part - and reason you are posting on the forum, is that the acquaintance SHOULD automatically come to you and insist that you take your due 10% - and he didn't. Either he hasn't been schooled on fairness and gentleman's agreements or his true character has been revealed. Perhaps talk with him about this and come to an arrangement for the remaining cues and settle this situation or walk away lesson learned - and continue offering your help as always - with this scenario covered in your next handshake deal :-)

I think a lot of people just don't know the proper, fair and honorable thing to do in situations like this....unfortunately, the money clouds a person's judgement.

Assuming you mentioned your displeasure with the original owner, and he had nothing to add to the discussion ... yes, I'd just let him handle the rest of them. If the pictures are yours, don't give them to him - and if possible take them down from the net.

If you're biting your tongue, then go talk to him - see how he responds.

To be honest, I wouldn't get fussed about $10 or $20 ... but if your talking a hundred or so for that cue ... it's worth pursuing IMO.

You screwed yourself

When you sale cues under your name real name or made up for a user name You are being help responsible ..
For almost everything .. description condition shipping. then then no be responsible for the money too ?

So how can you be responsible when you don't have the cue ????
YOU CANT ...

Moral of the story if your selling a cue for someone , then have the cue in your possession .
And a written agreement, that pretty puts a stop to 99% of all this BS .

It was a cheap lesion in life .

You can always go small claims court ....
Then the jerk can pay court costs too
Be pretty hard to loose the case inless you slander the guy on a public forum or on face book

Have you spoken to the owner of the cues about this? The first thing to do is to talk to him. This may just be a communication issue and no harm or foul was intended. Anyway, after you talk to him, you may have a non-issue, who knows?

You got screwed. Take down all information on the sales of the cues. Don't tell your buddy a damn thing about it. If and when he figures out why there are no sales, then tell him what a $#!+ he is.

Since you sent the info to the buyer. You are responsible for the sale and are due the agreed about. Voice your displeasure. If you don't get your part, time to pull the other adds.
