I really would rather shoot pool without the use of a glove (insert snickering here  ), but with my hands, sweaty most of the time, clammy on a good day, I can't see it happening. I'm thinking about trying one of the shaft conditioning agents availiable on the market. I would like to hear some feedback on what y'all have used in the past or present and if you liked the product or not, then why you did or didn't. I am thinking of trying the Slip Stic shaft conditioner first. I would first give my shafts a good cleaning with Magic Eraser and burnish until dry before using this product. Any opinions/advice would be appreciated.

P.S. I DID do a search, but would like fresh opinions please :D :D :D .

Your a straight up sucka if you don't try out Slipstic for ten bucks a bottle. I have been using it for years at this point.

I've used the slip stic when they were testing it out. Liked the product, thought it lasted for a long time and the shaft stayed nice and slick. Pete is easy to deal with as well.

the q kit works pretty good but i have been using pledge for the past 6 months. i use the q cleaner and papers whenever my shaft starts to get real blue. then instead of the q slick and q glide (they do work well though) i pledge it. cheaper and easier to get. i personally like the ways it feels better also but that is a matter of opinion.

I care for my shafts

Each to their own but here is how I do it.

1. I have a hand towel that I wipe the shaft down with after each play.

2. I use tan chalk and my shafts look new.

3. About once a month I use magic eraser and very hot water and wipe down shafts. I try to do this quickly and inspect for any dings and this removes them. Dry immedately with terry cloth towel and then air dry.

4. I use a little (very little) pledge or similar on paper towel and wipe down, then use terry cloth to wipe it back off.

I think keeping the shafts clean is more important than what you put on them.

Each to their own. But this is my way.

Slip Stic....works great, and lasts a long time

Thanks, but that works against us because it lasts too long in some cases. It should last for 4 to 6 weeks, though longer in some cases. For some reason, and we don't know why, a single application has lasted for 9 and 12 months in cases. It might be the players hands, their cue shaft or maybe both.

I've had players tell me they no longer need anything on their cue and come to find out after having their shaft check out, slipstic is still protecting and repelling. Yes, it can be completely removed too.

Because of this we have a newer size coming out and it will be at the BCA show. It is a 5 gram size, lower price too.

Also, if your going to the show we have two new products we had been working on for over a year. We have a billiard ball Cleaner-Finish that does not leave a tacky wax or noticeable surface layer behind, and the balls will look brand new (actually you would have to magnify it considerably to even notice a surface).

And then, we have a felt Conditioner-Protector that will not alter the felts properties at all. No need for Silicone or Teflon treated felt.

It does pay to spend to do it right. (web site will not display products until after the BCA show) None of our products are concoctions nor are they existing products that have been re-packaged, all are innovations developed through a great deal of research and development, chemistry.

As far as shaft cleaners/conditioners goes, SlipStic is the stuff and Pete is the man. He'll take care of you if you have any questions about his product. The product speaks for itself if you read the other reviews in this thread and a in few other threads over the past few years.

SlipStic is an excellent product from an even better guy. My experience has been it seems to last longer from 1 treatment to the next. I realize its probably not the case, but it seems that way. Just make sure that once you apply it and work a coating on the shaft don't touch it for like 15 or 20 minutes. It seems to soak in a bit and then just buff it with a soft cloth.

Thanks Pete!!!

Got towels....

Have a whole bunch of white towels coming in with our "SlipStic" name on them. These are LARGE size microfiber ones that attach to your cue case. Microfiber is absolutely the best, better than cotton. Reason is they have a positive charge, dirt and crap have a negative charge. The result is that it sucks the dirt and stuff deep into the towels, and fast. Better than spreading the dirt around.

If you are going to the BCA, stop by (don't know my booth number yet)

Thanks again,

Pete

Slip Stic

Pete is great to deal with and the product is superb. I highly recomend it. Be sure your shaft is "squeeky clean" before applying it for that last forever result.

Shark Oil

Cleans and conditions shaft. Wipe on wipe off. Burnish. Good to go.

Q products

I have been using Q products, and they work great. But from the sound of it I should check out this Slipstic stuff!

i like slipstic and use it, but i still have to use a glove. maniac, your hands sound like mine and i never found any conditioner that could replace the glove.

I wish.....

Put me down for one of the towels and let me know when they come in.

I'll have to get up your way for a Joss event..

Yep...Slipstic. Towels sound good too, Pete. After Vegas, I'll check out your site. :p

SlipStic or Nothing

SlipStic is the only product I'd ever put on my cue other than the oil from my hands.

I talked to Pete about a year ago about developing a cloth conditioner. Rest assured he's on the right track. Pete was already working on this when we spoke and it's taken a year to perfect. He answered and understood all my questions. The properties of this product will be unmatched. Those of us that love to play on new cloth will have a product developed specifically for "Billiard Cloth" rather than having to use something meant for squeaky door hinges or dirty furnature. The other conditioners out there are proud to say that their product will take a NEW cloth and make it play like USED cloth. Still can't figure why that's a good thing.

After this becomes available, the Depot and Lowes will be losing some of my business. Hope they feel the pain. Every little bit helps.

I CALL DIBS on the first bottle (I Hope) after the BCA launch.
