I have started talking to a custom box mfg to see what it would cost to make a very safe shipping box for cues. Please let me know if it is something you might be intersted in. If I get some response I will go forward with design and figure what cost would be. I am also open to any comments on what the box demensions and ideas on inside padding.

yes I know of different things people use just trying to see if there is any intrest in getting something a little standerdize. and what some one might pay for them not looking to make money but if I am getting them made for myself just thought some others might be interested. Also it would be something some could store cues in just seeing if there is any intrest. So most have said pvc pipe but there is a cost to that. If nost intrest thats fine. Just thought I would try to help if there was something lackking.

dude, you got three threads going

ditto that !!
i use 2" though
the foam core pvc is even cheaper and lighter than the standard schedule 40 pvc
and the peace of mind is priceless

here's a little secret for ya'll
skip home depot & lowes and places like that
go to your local plumbing supply house
they carry what is commonly called "foam core" pvc pipe
it's dirt cheap !!!
how do i know this, because i was a plumber for 30 years:wink:
i bought two 10 foot pieces of 2" foamcore for $12.00
the technical name is "cellular core"
it's an inner & outer shell of pvc with a foam of some sort in between
it's not for pressure piping
only for DWV, drain waste & vent
oh god!! NOW i'm having flashbacks to my plumbing days, HELP!!!!!

This is great advice.
i own stock in foamcore piping:grin:
JUST KIDDING!!!!!!
im not sure what the "over the counter" price is for it now
fluctuates quite a bit
and the $12 i paid, was probably discounted,
since the supply house guys all knew me from my illustrious plumbing days

How strong/protective is the foamcore compared to the schedule 40? Does it mean giving up some degree of protection to save a little weight?
