I asked the seller of the Ned Morris cue on ebay a few days ago what was the shaft size of the cue and he emailed me back saying,

cue weighs 19.6 oz and the shafts are 14mm
thanks

Then I asked again just to make sure he didn't make a mistake with the 14mm and his reply was,

yes they are 14mm,maybe just a hair under
thanks

I owned a cue that was 13-1/4 mm and that felt like having a big chunck of wood in my hand and I never seen any cuemaker advertise a 14mm shaft with a cue as of yet and this guy has a lot of cues up for auction all top notch ones at that and he couldn't have made a mistake telling me it was 14 mm or a hair under that so has anyone else here have seen cues with this size shafts?

Looking at those pictures, that guy has no idea what he is talking about. There is no way those two shafts are 14mm. I would have to see a micrometer on those two shafts to believe it...sorry...but this midget ain't biting.

I said the same thing about the pictures they look no more then 13mm or under but I have the 2 emails he sent me in replys, also to mention he just sold 2 SW cues and he has alot more cues up for auction now, so how could he say what he said he must know about cues! he sent me the 2nd email when the reserve wasn't being met and confirmed the 14mm or a hair under.

Regardless, 14mm or not, Ned Morris makes a pretty cue and a solid playing cue too. Even if it is 14mm, simply take the shafts in a little. Better to start too thick (and take it down a little) than to start to thin!

That seems like a lot of money to me for a Ned Morris cue.

maybe it was made for some big football player or Shaq ?

Yeah, the lumber alone required to make those 14mm shafts really prices it up there.

Must have been the ivory...

I,ve had to make them before but never seen original 14mm shafts.By looking at the joint in comparison I would give them a 12.5 or 12.75. I would not give them a 14 especially as They appear to be cut to me.The offset in taper would take it down from the original 13mm used.Heck Ive been wrong before though but I would lean against it. I never trust ebay anyhoo . Bought 2 things on there neither were what the were presented.I would also not unsterstand the weight ratio with that shaft.I think if someone was looking for a 14mm they may be unhappy but I may be wrong.

Maybe he measured the wrong end of the shaft

I have made 2 14mm shafts. Both used by people that do trick shots. I also did a brunswick conversion for a guy that wanted a 14mm I was in shock but they guy was pretty big. Cue makers make them 13mm unless otherwise requested by the customer. I have a shaft I am messing around with now that I use. Its 14mm and no ferrule just a tip at the end of the shaft. yeah I know weird but wanted to see what it felt like!

I'm inclined to agree w/ mastercueartist.
zoomed in on the pictures presumed a maximum working size on the joint at 20 mm ...
well it seems that the joint is 50-52 PIXELS wide and I come up with 28-32 pixels wide relative to the shafts.
20/52 = x/32 = 52x=640 ... x must equal 12.2mm

Now if the joint is 22.5mm wide, you got action!
14mm!
