Here is a start to a rough draft spec sheet. I know it is not pretty but at this point we need decide what info is needed and the best format to use. The part I am posting now is the general info. The next part will be detailed info such as measurements at joint, butt and top of wrap. I just noticed i need to add a place for shaft weights, butt weight and a place for price. Please give me any thing that is needing changed or added. This will be a work in progress so please give suggestions. Also PM me if you want the excel version of this.

Yea you are right. This idea came from another thread and seemed like a good idea. We might have to come up with a cover sheet for this thing explaining a universal method of filling it out(if possible).

My plan is (very well maybe flawed,lol) to do a general info at the top. So that info would go in the "joint type" area. I feel most people would just use the top portion of this sheet. Then on the bottom do a very detailed synopsis.
 
A couple of suggestions... you may want to add a space for the Model # of the cue, as some cues that come up for sale have model numbers.

And how about including a spot for the balance point, as measured from the butt end of the cue?

And I would separate the cue seller/buyer/terms/shipping information from the basic information about the cue itself. Perhaps sheet #1 for the cue details and sh. #2 for the cue seller/buyer/terms/shipping information... just a thought.

And for cues with inlays, a place to list the inlay material(s).

Never considered the model #,thanks i will put it in.

I think you are right about making it 2 pages. I considered that at the begining. I think I will change it.

As far as inlays I originally had it in the but I am up in the air as far as the format. I guess the thing to do is to put an spot for forearm and butt. Then just let the person fill everything in.

Also about the balancing point. Would the standard measurement be between bumper and the focal point?

Thanks very much for taking the time to do this. I am certain that it will solve some of the problems that are occurring, However, when dealing with someone who is like the individual in thread that started this I have doubt that even if this was done it would have mattered.

The ulterior motives some individuals have are not spur of the moment, they begin planning their deceit prior to the item even arriving for inspection. The individual in the thread, it has been identified by many others who have dealt with him, as someone that is always changing his transactions in his favor. With that said, I do not know what the answer really is, except to identify these people as quickly as possible.

Thanks again for taking the time to do this, I really think it is a great job!!!!

I think you are correct. This is more of a checklist to stop "honest" mistakes.
 
One last suggestion... I would add a line for "Cue's General Condition"... which would allocate some space for a person to describe the cue's condition... new/unhit... like new/test hit only... 95%... 90%... and so on... even to the point of describing a flaw/imperfection... like a 1/16" small bubble in the finish in the butt cap.

this is a great idea, especially when your dealing with gallery cues etc.

another idea is to build a Excel template for building a data base of cues, that could output a printed version of that data in the spec. sheet you devloped. I need a way to organize my collection

I am going to have to think about that one. So you would want to enter your info on to this sheet and have it export to a master list of general cue specs?
