Cue tips review

Hello, recently I tried BK 2 with 2 tips different than the original phenolic one. First one is White Diamond, which gave a very explosive break shot, the sound is very loud, to the ones that are used to phenolic tips, it will be a pleasure and an improvement. The second tip I tried is Super Pro. I like this tip for breaking, a lot of control and breaks hard. Both tips are better than the original tip IMO.
Next, I put the new Tiger Emerald tip on my playing cue, for all the players who use hard tips, it is a very good option. First I thought it is very hard, but now I am getting used to him . It is softer than Super Pro, but harder than a Wizard. I like the spin that puts on the cue ball, holds chalk well, good energy transfer. Will see after few weeks how it holds .....

I have a bk2 and I had Jim Buss put a samsara leather jump/break tip on. It's a layered leather tip (so it's bca legal) and it's a hard tip with great cueball control. I found that I like it a little flatter than the other tips but, it's definitley worth the investment. I have one on order to put on my predator air.

A G10 tip ? From where did you take it ? I recently tries Samsara also, seems like phenolic to me.

I just ordered some, I can't wait to try them !

its like anything else. You'll either like the or not. I would have mailed you a couple. I have a couple of 4ft rods. I just put them the rod in my lathe and round the end off and then cut it off...Works great! MY entire ferrule on my break cue is g10...

i have used so many tips but here are some of my comments based on my own experiences only...

master elk : you can not go wrong with this tip, just make sure you press it first

triangle : similar hit with master, although a bit harder; needs tapping more often

super pro : hard tip but surprisingly provides good spin & control; used this one time for all my cues

talisman : not a good experience for me. hits medium to soft but de-laminates easily

kamui black medium : this is a good tip which provides a little cushion feel but not too soft; i easily make draw shots with this one

kamui black soft : not my type; too mushy

pressed ingot : this is my choice for a break cue tip, second to phenolic

Waiting for the G 10 to arrive, I made a break tip from a Water Buffalo, soaked in milk and pressed really hard. It is very, very nice. I can control easily the cue ball, but still the tip is hard enough.

Well I got to try G10 tip !!! I have installed on a break/jump and it works very well. Personally I like the sound of broken glass. For breaking you don't have to put so much power, otherwise the cue ball can leave the table. For jump it is very nice.

I put G10 on my PH break cue and it is very nice ! I break a ton with this.
For breaking I put also milk WB dudes to my clients and they are very nice !!! So this will be my standard choice for break tips. Cheap too.
I have tried Wizard again and it seems harder than a year ago. Any one noticed this ?

I just put two emerald tips on my playing shafts after using a talisman tip for a week. I really like the feel of the emerald over the talisman. also I switched up my break tip from the white diamond to the pressed ignot. My first break parked the cue ball 6 inches from the head ball as the rack exploded. needless to say, I really like the Ignot tip as well.
anyone looking to try either of these gets my vote. great tips for the money.

Yeah, I played with an Emerald last year. I may end up using it again. Great tip.

my opinion

Im certainly a fan of any playing tip that tiger makes...though ive recently tried a tiger extra hard leather jump/break tip. I feel that the jb tip is too soft to get the job done. I will be going to the samsara leather jb tip.
dont like moori's. theyre too high maintenance, as well as the kamuis. I tried a g10 tip on a jump cue, very briefly, wasn't real convinced. though it could be me or that I'm typically used to jumping with a phenolic. Have never heard of the pressed ingots. is that the brand name or is that a type of tip that different manufacturers are making?

tips on tips

Nice post. I've been playing with Gulyassy J/B cues for awhile so I'm used to the phenolic tip but I'd like to try a hard leather tip. The reviews are much appreciated.

As for my playing cue, I've been playing with Triumph tips for a few years now. They are not 'very' soft like an Elkmaster.. more of a soft medium. I find I get a lot of control with them and nice feedback from the cue ball. I also just tried the Kamui tips and was very impressed with them. I'm going to play with one for awhile and see how it holds up with some hours put on it. I'll post up a review on my findings.

Die hard fan of the triangle. Used some moori med back in 04-06 and they were nice too. Elkmaster is great if pressed....especially if they are dudded.

I got weirded out this weekend. I purchased a nice old huebler off here and gave it to my friend who i taught to play for a christmas present. The tip and ferrule needed replacing. So while at the tournament he has it done, comes back and I ask him what kind of tip? He says the guys going to put on a lepro. I told him go back and tell the guy NO, to put a triangle. He hadn't even finished putting on the new ferrule and charged $5 more for the triangle? Not that I give a hoot about $5 but WTF they both cost the same, triangles are what 50cents a tip give or take. Thought that was pretty nitty.

Used to play in the 90 s only triangle tips- the only reason i m now playing an everest is, (next to that i enjoy playing with it) that i just shaped it one time and since there was no need to work on the tip again.
I loved triangle, but with the years seems that i just got lazy :) i don t like to work on the tip again and again :p and with non-laminated tips you usualy have to work on em from time to time.

@greyghost: 5$ more for a triangle tip  rotfl, i don t want to know what that guy would take for a kamui black.....75 $ perhaps ? LOL

The 5 $ might be his fee for the replacement. I charge here 7 $ to change a tip.

I think my quest for a tip stopped for now. I need a spare shaft for testing, my game went down LOL
I gave a last chance to Moori Med, but I was disappointed. Very hard, feels like a rock, lots of miscues .....
I put Kamui Black SS and I am really impressed. It sounds an feels like a medium I would say, holds chalk very well. A friend of mine breaks also with this tip and it has the same shape as the first day. Also Kamui Black Med is a great tip, great cue ball draw, feel is strong. This 2 I think are the top from Kamui. Didn't try Black Hard yet ....

I installed a phenolic tip on the breaker and it feels nicer than G10 , I will keep it.
