After 40 years I have started shooting pool again. What would be a good cue for under $300 Have been looking at McDermott,
Any good advise out there.

A couple of pre-owned custom cues in the AZ forsale forum are in your price range, along with Dale Perrys on ebay.

I bought a new McDermott cue with an I2 shaft that I paid around $270 for at cheapcues.com. You can also get a low end Joss with an upgraded shaft such as a OB1 or OB2, or even a Predator 314-2 shaft for under that price there too. Of course they have the Predator sneaky with a 314-2 (wood to wood joint) for less than $300.

Ebay has new Dale Perry's for a bargain price, and there's a new Jacoby on there for $275 also. These have traditional maple shafts, not low deflection.

I found a site that had a new Mezz zzsp with the WD700 shaft for $277 shipped. I had to order it for myself, so it should be here in a few days.

Of course if you post in the Wanted/for sale forum, you will get plenty of offers for that price also.

Jacoby, Joss, Dominiak, Predator or Mezz sneakies/plain, preowned custom sneakies/plain (Josey for ex.). Those are all high quality options.

What site was that?

Don't overlook the Cuetec R-360. They play and SOUND a lot better than the older Cuetec's. I play and break with mine for hours everyday and the tip is perfect after 5 months. It does everything a higher price cue can do. A lot of bang for your money IMO. Johnnyt

For $300 in today's market, you should have a lot of options. I would suggest buying from the wanted/for sale section here. Plus, if you find a good deal on here, you can probably break even at least, if you ever decided to sell the cue. There are numerous low end custom cues that would fit in the price range. I would also suggest Jacobys, Pechauer, Schon, McDermott, Joss, etc.

Good luck!

What's good enough for SVB, eh, Johnny? ;)

I've bought 3 Sneaky Petes that Shawn Putnam makes and ALL of them were amazing cues. Really solid and well made. I have a friend that bought 2 also and feels the same way. He's on this site. Would highly recommend.

is that the one svb uses? how does it play? how would it compare to a schon, mezz or a viking?

I also like the Cuetec extention that screws into the butt. I feels more natual than the other ones I have. Johnnyt
