I asked this question in the midst of the "Great China Cue War" and it got ignored. If i change the leather wrap to linen on my Lucasi cue does it void the warranty. And please just a simple answer and no more China wars.

Your best bet to get the right answer would be to contact Cue and Case and ask them if it would be covered.

I believe, more than likely, yes. Unless if you bring it in to an authorized repair/mod shop. But that's even a stretch. That's what I've gathered from the other thread.

Mods on cars with warranty are void if the dealership feels that certain mods caused the problem. ie: turbo manifold caused the turbo seals to leak...etc...

So in your case, with it being the wrap, I could see them denying your claim if the butt of your cue becomes warped.

I don't think they have a warranty. For example Meucci makes about 40,000 cues a year. The warranty each of those for 10 days...AFTER THE DEALER GETS IT. Nothing after the sale...JER

I would contact your dealer that sold you the cue and ask them. I wouldnt think it would void the warranty but you never know!

Lucasi Lifetime Guarantee:

Lucasi cues are warranted to be free from material and manufacturing defects for the lifetime of the cue. Warrants all components, including warpage provided that your cue is accompanied by a copy of the original sales receipt from an authorized Lucasi dealer. Normal wear on replacement parts such as tips, finish and wraps are not covered under this warranty. Evidence of abuse voids this warranty. Warranty is non-transferable.

From what I am reading here it says the wrap is not covered under warranty. So it wouldnt void the warranty to have it changed.

This clause only means that they won't replace your wrap if it get's worn out. I am sure they will replace a wrap if it's defective.

They also state further down in their warranty that ANY repair by anyone other than Cue and Case voids the warranty so I take that to include wrap changes. However the best bet is simply to email them and get the answer in writing with a name attached to it.

I have been a Lucasi dealer for over 10 yrs. I had a guy I met and now have known for a couple yrs, buy a cue from Billiards 911. After a couple years the cue developed some cracks at the A joint and butt sleave . 911 would not do anything for him. He brought it to my attention, I took pictures of it and called my rep at Cue and Case, and sent the pictures to him. After he saw the pictures He said to send the cue in to them . About 2 weeks later my rep called and they were ready to replace the cue. It was not in production so my freind got to choose a new cue with the same value , no charge . I thought that was pretty good customer relations, and warrentee. Bob Lucus has very good quality control , for the money they are hard to beat. I have installed 12 to 15 Leather wraps on Lucasi's and never had one warp. Thanks Jim

Become a Sterling dealer and you will have the same level of service. I have frequently used Cue and Case's commitment to their customers as a motivator for our own sales people. We repair or replace cues we sell of any age as long as a dealer is willing to say that it is his opinion that the defect was not the fault of the customer. If the manufacturer won't back us up then we just eat it and move on.

Back when I had Instroke I had a policy that ANY dealer could take care of a customer who had an Instroke case and that I would back that dealer up and compensate them for their time. I felt that a person who moves from New York to LA should be able to walk into any Instroke dealer's place in LA and be helped out with their Instroke case problem. Some dealers wouldn't help people who didn't buy the case from them but most would.

Cue and Case has long been a model of customer service and long before they had a written warranty they were taking care of problems like this with no fuss.

Cue and case are at the apa in vegas at the moment.
From a sideline view, they seem to have very good customer service.
I saw someone explain a problem with a cue and they just gave them another cue.
The customer seemed happy.

Would you want to try to stand behind the junk they build?
