Well considering this is a pool related forum that is filled with a ton of people who having a particular liking for Pool Cues, your name really is not that unique and should be expected to have similar versions out there.

In some cases it may be malicious to F with you, but in others I'm sure it is pure coincidence and these people, like myself, have no idea who you are nor know anything about your website.

You just happening to be posting on a forum where people are addicted to cues... I;m sure that is why you chose your name, as it is something your clientele can relate too.

This is a site where lots of people look at cues, buy cues, sell cues, collect cues, etc.. And PLENTY of them might refer to themselves as 'cue addicts'. Doesn't mean they're trying to harm your business, steal your name, your thunder, your identity, etc.. Your screen name is actually somewhat generic (no offense intended).

Your name would be a very common name someone would choose when creating an account on a pool site. It is not really very clever and quite obvious. I would not think for a minute they are trying to impersonate you.

It is surprising sometimes when creating an account somewhere when you come up with a name you thought was so cleaver to find it is already taken.
 
Until I read this post I had absolutely no idea there was something of a website or business called cueaddicts. Sorry.

I don't know how many members this site has ( I'm sure there's a place to check that) but with all the members, I don't think finding multiple similar names that unusual. They probably had no idea either.

I agree, we've chatted and he does seem like a nice guy. Having these 3 new ones all of sudden just seems a little odd, that's all.

Sure, makes total sense. But if and when one of them is ever a party to a bad dealing, I would like this PSA out here to be able to refer back to.
 
There's nothing wrong with the OP making sure everyone knows that those similar names are not him.

There have been a number of attempts to scam people here by using similar names of people who deal in high volume sales. You can never be too careful.

If a bad dealing occurs with one of them you could always put your PSA in the thread about it.
 
I know what you mean. People sometimes confuse me with other Cueman---- that come on here and there.
 
When I signed up all the names I could think of were taken so I went with busboy so I'm sure there are few doubles
 
This was my first forum that I participated in (I am not exactly computer savvy)

I used the screen name "Poolpro" on ESPN's site for the March Madness stuff before I posted here. I was an "office pool" pro - I signed up here and found out the name was taken, and added the 2 (meaning "also" - my attempt at humor).

I had seen screen names with numbers behind them on every site I lurked...Never thought a thing about it.

After participating for a little while, it dawned on me there must be an original Poolpro. I did feel a little weird, being new, I did not want to step on someone's toes.

There are 4 variations of "Poolpro" that I know of. I think I saw 15 variations of "poolplayer" in the search window.

Unfortunately, only 26 letters in the alphabet and if you want to use pool related words, well there will be repeats.
