I use Cuekote for sealing shafts and love the stuff. Wayne has been great to deal with. I read the links and Sailkote sounds like something different to me.
 
It's not the first time someone sold something to us (cuemakers) and made a profit on nothing more than the fact that we did not know where the item came from or how to make it. lol.

I don't know where you guys get your info. The stuff is made by the same chemical company, but it is not and I say again, not the same stuff.
I looked at the MSDS and it's different, so stop making false statements.
By the way, I have no financial interest in this at all, but I hate seeing crap being spread by people who think they know something.:(

I was speaking to Wayne this afternoon and he did confirm that the same company makes his product and he (Cuekote) owns the formula... It is a similar product but is not the same, caution should be used... also the link in reference to the cue deal with Rabbitt was over 2 years ago, and was rectified... just one of the typical internet fables that goes on and on and on and on..................................................
 
Hope my comment didn't hit a nerve with you, Steve.

I had no idea if it is or is not the same. I was just commenting on how funny it is to me that we often buy something because we don't know where else to get it, and then gripe about how simple it would have been to get it elsewhere, when we are the ones that didn't know in the first place.
 
I'm supposed to be getting a sample soon. I hope it does what he says. Sounds like a pretty good idea and product to me.
 
I've been using SAILKOTE for about 11 years. It works as a dry lubricant. One can of spray will last forever. Shake the can, spray a little on a paper towel & polish the shaft. It works & no advers effects...JER
 
Speaking of getting ripped off, I saw some Dale Perry cues on that Jax Rabbitt site. There are some high end Perry cues on there, but there are also some cues just like the ones you can get off of ebay for under $200. On that website they are sold for $450. I guess turn about is not fair play?

Rick. Cue Silk is pretty much any ladies anti frizz gel that has Dime something or the other on the end. I bought a bottle of Pantene because it was cheap. It smells pretty and does the same job as Cue Silk.

Cue Clean has grit or pumice in it. Pretty much the same as Vim.

I don't bother with products like Cue Silk. Once I use Hightowers Shaft sealer and a couple of coats of wax, the finish lasts for months.

Yesterday, I sanded a test shaft, put Dr. Wellwoods oil on it. Sanded, Hightower shaft sealer and wax. It was like glass I tell ya.
 
Cue Cote and CueKote are not the same product either in case some think so. I have never tried CueKote, but I am told it is a shaft slicking material. The Cue Cote product that I have sold for many years is a two part finish for the butt of cues.

A good point was brought up and that is that items are often found to work for someting they were not originally intended for and people market it to a different market under a different name.

This is true especially in the billiards industry. Something not mentioned was the dozens of products that were tested and time taken to figure out what will work best for a particular application. Also not mentioned was the cues and especially shafts that were destroyed in the process of experimenting with various products. So IMO the ones that did the testing and took the losses are entitled to keep what they found a secret and market it under another name in the original or modified version. But on the other hand if someone else can figure it out they are entitled to use the original product. It is kind of like an education, those with knowledge and experience can profit off of that knowledge either by providing a service, product or education.

If someone wants to know if I have done this, the simple answer is Yes.
