I have sent 1 cuemaker a pm..and called many many times and have not heard anything from him...I have also sent JB Cases a PM and nothing yet from him either...I do know he is really busy so we have to be patient...I think we should be going good in the next couple weeks...my hopes anyways

Update!!!!!

AZBilliards,

After some cue builders have backed out at the last minute, family issues with cue builders, me calling some respectable cue builders and them not returning my call. We are moving forward.

I for one, want to apologize to the cue builders that did finish their cue on time and when they said they would. You guys will be known at the end of the build off so everyone will know that you will do exactly what you say! That, at least to me, means a whole lot. I know that it is your cues, but if you guys don’t have people to buy your cues, then you guys just have a bunch of cues that nobody wants. You guys that got your cues on time, THANKS!

There is 1 straggler (you know who I am talking about) That got his cue lost in shipment to Eric Crisp. That was absolutely not your fault, the only fault of yours is, NOT INSURING YOUR CUE! I know that was a hard lesson to learn…But I want to publicly thank you also for getting a 2nd cue together in such short time. You will be known at the end of the build off also! And I said straggler, and I was not being serious….This guy has went above and beyond what was asked of him and he should be commended for doing that!

JB Cases is donating something for us to protect the cues while in shipment…Thanks JB Cases!

I know Eric Crisp doesn’t log into this forum anymore because his wife is back now and they are spending some time together, which I would do the same if I was him…Eric, brother…Thanks for all your doing for this, and for me personally! You are TOP NOTCH in my book! Eric does so much for the pool community its crazy. He donates his time, and donates cues to make us enjoy pool a lot more. For instance, he has donated 2 cues to www.theactionreport.com I know them guys have nothing but good things to say about Eric and his generosity. And thanks to www.theactionreport.com for you guys supporting pool like you do by allowing us to view matches that we would normally never be able to see…THANKS TAR

This will kick off in the next 2 weeks. The cues will be shipped to me. I will video the cues, me testing the cues, and my review of each cue. I will post the video on YOUTUBE, and post the link in the thread. I will also make a new thread so people don’t have to wade through this huge thread. Remember, my views may not be your views, everyone has a different cue that they like. Everyone just be honest and be fair, we owe that to the cuemakers. Who knows, this may help them improve their cue (if it needs any improvement). But I do ask, guys just give us the facts, don’t bash a cue. That’s not what this is about.

Have fun, and everyone enjoy this!

Shawn

i was beginning to wonder. Thats good news. I cant wait to test em.

I agree..We need to get this thing going..I hated to see that the other cuebuilders pulled out at the last minute.

One of the guys is a pretty big cuemaker and it was suprising that he wont respond to emails, or phone calls..

This will be fun regardless. I think were gonna get to test out some top notch cues in this round.....

I request that everyone that is on the list send me a PM to let me know if they are still in or not....I will also start PMing them to see if they are in or out.....lets get this show on the road!

Update!!

Just spoke with Eric Crisp and he said he has 6 cues. We are just waiting on JB Cases to ship what he is going to send us to ship the cues in.

So this is getting so close I can smell it.....hold on to your drawers:thumbup:

build off

curious as to how many testers there are and how long will they be allowed to test. When App. do you think a review will be posted/
Thanks,
Bob

This is pretty much everything in a nutshell

Here is a rundown on how the cues were built

1. The cue will have a lightly figured BEM forearm and butt

2. Handle will be Maple or Purpleheart, wrapped or wrapless (up to cue builder) if you specifially build all your cues with PH then use PH.

3. Cue builder to decide to core or not to core

4. cue builders personal taper on shaft

5. Cue builder to use Molavia Medium tips provided by Duc Lam

6. Builder's to use black phenolic collars, buttcap

7. Cuemakers choice on ferrule, pin

8. Weight will be 19oz +/- 0.2oz

9. No ringwork, inlays, points, signatures or trademarks

10. have integrity & build the cue as if somebody had ordered it, the same way you'd build all of your cues.

JB Cases is donating something to ship the cues in to protect them while in transit

When you ship the cues to the next person, if you are not hand delivering them, they MUST be insured...NO EXCEPTIONS

All tracking and insurance info has to be posted on here for everyone, including the cuemakers to see so EVERYONE can track them

And here is the list of testers and the order they will recieve the cues;

Each person will have the cues approx 1 week!!!!

Any questions or comments feel free to fire away!!!!!

***SIDE NOTE*** These cues may or may not be built to these specs, but should be very close. I am sorry for that. This is a first run to see how this goes off. The 2nd build off will have STRICT guidelines and if they cannot be followed, that cue will not be allowed to participate> There will be an agreed upon deadline and if its not met, that cue will not get to participate......also, the Next buildoff will have more expensive cues and we will have video of segments of the cue being built and also and end result

Hey look at me near the bottom of the list...LOL. Glad to see everything is on track. Thank you for everyone involved and for the select few that made, and helped make this happen. Can't wait!!

Just a thought, wouldn't it make sense to order the distribution geographically to reduce the costs, time and likelihood of loss along the way?

it is.....were sending it to the person closest to us...i am sending it to texas.....then from there to the next closest person....so on and so on

Quick Update

I spoke with John Barton on thursday, and he will be delivering the case to ship the cues in to Eric Crisp at the ICCS on Sept 5. Eric has 6 cues in his possesion for the build off.

When they get to me, I will put a custom Sneaky Pete in as well from a cumemaker here on the forum. We cant really rate it with the other cues because its an alltogether different style of cue that what we have for the build off. We will rate that cue also. It will give you a great example of the quality cue this guy can make.

So we are closer than ever and I hope you guys enjoy this...I know I will!
