You wanted to build a cue for this? or be a tester? If I understand you right you want to build a cue for this. Unfortunately we have all the cuemakers right now. JB Cases is making a case just for this buildoff and we needed to know exactly how many cues will be put in the case. Sorry vasilios..there will be a next time if this one goes well........

I have been contacted by some cue builders that want to do this again if this buildoff goes well.

The next buildoff will go something like this.

Cuemaker has set price he can build a cue any way he wants, using whatever he wants.... Say build a cue for 1k. we test the cues out and see who comes out on top for that particular buildoff.....but we have to get through this one before we do that one....

We wanted to start off simple this time around and next time it will be more exotic....and yes....1 cuemaker that has inquired about this makes high end cues that are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!! I spoke with him on the phone about this and these particular cues will take more time to build....but thats another buildoff.
 
hey ftgokie, when you have a list of people that'll be trying it out, is it possible to have them agree to showcase it @ their local pool hall for a day or two, and have them take a survey of what the people prefer?
Also, could they list their location, pool hall and cue demo time if they are going to be in a major metropolitan area like NYC, that way local AZ-ers can show up and try them out.

This is such a great idea, I can't wait to see how it shakes out. It reminds me of some of the custom pocket knife forums I go to sometimes where they do passarounds of a certain model, but this is even better because you can compare different makers side by side.

Hopefully if this is done in the future I'll be able to get in on it, since I obviously haven't been around long enough to get in on this one. Have fun with everyone who is involved, I look forward to hearing the results.
 
thanks for the reply.i wanted to get in on the build end of it.the idea of getting some people to try out cues that are of basic construction is a great idea.then the can go for the eye candy with a sound decision.

Yes, this is exactly what we want to do...that way more people can test the cues out..Like I for instance will take them to Magoos in Tulsa, deadgearplyr, duane remick, Buddy Hall will hit with the cues and give us their opinions....and any other AZ'ers close by will be able to test them...I will be posting the dates I will be there so as many will test them that I can get...and you guys would do the same.....

I am going to try and have them back to me by Sept 11 so I can take them to the World Classic in Galveston, Tx...not sure if I will be able to make it to the US Open with them...but if someone would want to take them there....that would be good also..
 
ftgokie, I have sent you a pm but have not received a response. I am from Rochester NY and there are some very reputable members on here that I know and play at the same pool hall, Classic Billiards West. I would be able to represent the Rochester area and host the cues. Turning Stone is forty five minutes from me so there's another bonus. Please let me know what your intentions are, if any concerning this. Rob M.
 
If I end up on this list the hall I would take them to is Bankshot Billiards in Louisville, KY.

I am getting a list together with people throughout the US to try the cues out......Everyone will have to understand that we will only be able to take 15-20 people for this....because if the person has the cues for 3-4days, shipping is a 2 days...we are looking at 20 people x 20 weeks...

I would like to have the cues back to me, or someone close to Galveston for the World Classic so the cues can be tested out by a much larger audience. If there is a large tournament by where you will be, then we would need to have the cues to you for that tournament so the cues can be test hit by a large number of people.

As of right now, I have about 20 people on the list...but some of them will not get to participate because they are either overseas...or have only been a member for 2 months, have no ITrader, and only 3-4 post..

But please send me your name if you want to be on the list..I will let everyone know when the list os complete and post the list on here.

I take my hat off to everyone that has contributed to this cue build off.
I think this is an excellent idea, and I hope to see this done down the road sometime. This is what I like getting on AZB for to see people helping others out. Keep up all the great work, all of you.

This has gotten bigger than I thought it would....The cue builders that are involved now are very well respected on here.....and the next cue buildoff we will have if this one goes over good...I can tell you that 1 cuemaker that has said they will participate has a wait list like you will not believe....cant give out any names though....but you guys will SHAT your pants when you find out who!
 
And I got the tips in from Duc Lam....I will be sending them out to the cue builders next week......Thanks Duc!
 
So you will be sending the tips to the builders? Who is to say thatt they will use that tip? Would it not be better for you to have the tips put on once you have them in you hands? Just a thought.

Willing to pay now, with the condition I would get first pick when they are availabe for purchase.

This will be a Honor System....with the cuemakers involved...I dont think they would risk thier Integrity over a tip!

I personally trust all the cuemakers involved. Now, if Eddie Wheat was involved, I would have all the cuemakers send the cues to Eric Crisp, and let him take Eddies cue and put the tip on...That IS if Eric is good enough to put a tip on a broom handle! :thumbup: he says he is, but Idunno :D

Hey Ken..I think what we are going to do is raffle off all the cues and custom case from JB Cases as a package deal. If that does not go over, then you will be first on the list to purchase a cue!

Reason to not do it now is, I have not discussed with the cuemakers how much they want to sell thier cues for after the cues are back to me.....But your 1st on the list to buy if we sell them individually!.....Thanks Ken!

I'm heart broken, but anyway, glad to be a part of something. Maybe in the future.
