Cuemakers That Care

A lot of caring cue makers have already been mentioned, but let me add the name of an old friend of mine - Dick Neighbors.

Bill is correct, Dick is a great guy and very talented. I thought you might want his web address Dickeycues.com. Because if you just do a google search on Dick Neighbors you come up with a bunch of people complaining about their neighbors who live downstairs!

Caps Caps Caps

I have to second the motion to turn off the caps. I got a brain freeze trying to read it, and I didn't even eat ice cream!

Bob Dzuricky built three cues for me, and he was great to work with each time.

Might as well add Darrin Hill to the list...

I have an early full splice cue of his that was made in 07 I think. Anyway after 5 years and about a million racks it developed a weird rattle and the shafts stopped seating properly. Anyway, called Darrin and he said ship it. I did. Couple of weeks later it came back good as new and he charged me exactly ZERO!

This post is over 5 years old and was necro'd by a red-repped person who wanted to piss and moan about his own problems.

I do realize it is Halloween, so maybe digging up dead things is sort of appropriate, but I doubt it.

I would add Paul Drexler to this list. I have never had a cue maker provide better communication or a quicker response.

I received a cue from a member here on AZ on trade. When I received the cue I rolled it on the table and noticed a small roll. I contacted the member that I got the cue from and he said that he would ask Paul to take a look at the cue and validate the problem.

I had a local repair guy put the cue on his lathe and I took a video of the wobble and sent the video along with the cue to Paul. The video showed a slight wobble at the joint.

Paul received the cue, rolled it on his lathe and didn't see any issues. Paul called me and asked who local person made the video. I have him that persons name and Paul called him to understand how the cue was put on lathe. After talking with the repair person Paul learned that the guy chucked the cue tightly on the lathe and the uneven finish was causing the problems.

Paul agreed to refinish the cue so that it rolled perfect on or off a lathe. In addition Paul asked whether this was going to be my playing cue or part of my collection. He was asking because he noticed some inconsistencies with the shafts and was concerned that they would still play good after several years.

He offered to make me two new shafts with the same ring work and also make a joint protector with the same ringwork. He agreed to do all of it for less than the cost of a predator blank from eBay. He offered my ferrule of choice and also let me choose my tips. Paul felt that providing new shafts would make me happier with the cue in the long run which was his main goal.

This entire exchange took under two weeks and during that time I must have talked to Paul on 6 occasions. He called me several times and responded to my emails immediately.

Did he do this to make an extra $100 or because he wanted to make sure I was a happy customer?

I am extremely impressed by him and would not hesitate to work with him on all of my cue needs.

I had gotten a Jerry Oliver and the butt cap had come loose. I saw him at nationals in Vegas and showed it too him he said ship it and he would take care of it.

I have to add Trevor Donahue to the list, he made me a Birdseye maple 20oz break cue 2 or 3 years ago & it breaks an absolute treat with minimal effort. The man is an artist.

I have had wonderful cues and customer service from:

Jim Buss
Richard Black
Mike Bender

I guess the B's have it.
