Cues in the case

I see cases all the time here on AZ for sale sometimes it will have cues in them with the butt up.in the description it will say cues will go either way.Why would you put the cue in with the bumper up?With or without jointprotectors it seems like this would not be the way to carry your cue.

I make it a point to play these folk. :grin:
 
I put mine bumper down in any case that will take them that way, but my old Porper 1x1 will only take it pin down. I carried my cue in it for many years w/o joint protectors and neither the cue or the case are any worse for it really. Still, bumper down just makes much more sense and that is how they go in with any case that will take them that way.
 
some cases have tapered tubes whereas the butt only goes in joint first and the shaft goes in tip first.
 
Personally I am a Cue Butt, Tip in First in first kind of guy.

I have a rubber grip on my breaking cue. I can't put it in my case unless I put it in joint-side first.

My preference is joint and tip(s) up.
 
I prefer joint down and tips up. I don't like chalk getting in my case and on my shafts.

One of those cheap slip on tips or a small plastic or vynil cap from the hardware store will keep the chalk from getting in the bottom or smeared on the tube liner.:)

joint up, and tip up for me.

some cases only take the cue joint down but if I have the choice its joint up.

and always tip up, to keep chalk outta my case. I hate blue shafts.
 
I put bumper up because the bumper can be dirty after being dragged across the floor and sometimes I forget to wipe it. Sliding it in bumper first will get the dirt all ove rthe sides of the case and consequestially the sides of the butt. In addition, I put tip side up for the same reasons

Played Sean at CBC lastnite,Got my butt beat!He had a cue in his case pin first.Sez it had a big butt! The one pocket guys are outa my league,Like watchin TV! Ron OK Matt was good too,another one pocket player
 
I go joint down, tip down with my Instroke Cowboy
I have JP's on all my stuff and I've tried joint up. It leaves room for the cue at the top to move around and I don't like that. Mentioned before, it also keep the dirty bumper from putting crap in the bottom of the case. I started putting tips down in the beginning and ended up with chalk in every tube and I don't know how to clean it so I said **** it~ Now I wipe off as much chalk as possible before putting them in. However, over time this has led to dirty shaft slots and my ferrules and sides of tips are always dirty :( If there's anyway to clean the tubes in an Instroke LMK please!
