Cues on the plane..

That's what I was thinking. I would think there are some types of repercussions for this.

thats like one of 19 bags lost .....? sounds a little high .....I'm sure a lot get stolen since it's just a free for all ....grab a bag and walk out .....

Agreed, and I think that's the number for bags which get temporarily lost as well as permanently lost. I dunno, honestly I heard it on the radio over the weekend so the guy wasn't giving all sorts of detailed facts.

Googling around the official stats look like 1 in ~130-140 bags gets lost. Still too damn many if you ask me. And since a lost bag maxes out at a certain dollar value set by the airline and not based on what you had in it, it's way too much.
 
Mail it

I find mailing is safe and it is insured:)
just sent it to where you are staying two day before you leave
Call the hotel and let them know it is coming and then you should not have anything to worry about

I have done this 4 times now and it is easy and I feel safer

I took the same approach a while back for long trips (in this case 3 weeks in DC) and got this bag.

It works out perfect for my Justis case since it fits snuggly between the metal stiffeners in the botton of the bag. That, and the addition of locks on the zippers, and I was very comfortable checking it.
 
I will probably end up shipping them to the hotel...

I have never had any trouble checking my cue. I usually pack it in one of those cue travel bags. I then have room to pack some clothes around the cue case. I do not believe that any airline will let you bring it on the plane.

If you're a golfer and can deal with having a single cue, put it in a soft-sided 1x1 case and place it inside your golfbag. Also, you can place your pool cue case in in a cardboard box, wrapped in several layers of bubblewrap.
