Cues Staying Straight and Conditions

Thanks for the suggestion and I might give it a try, my cue has been sent out and 2 shafts being made for it along with a refinish, hope it holds up this time. :)

Hope it holds out...but I think it's just a matter of time.

And for my break stick, I'm using one of Earl's old Cue-Tec's. It won't warp either.;)

Welcome to the desert. I lose lots of shafts to warpage because I don't control the humidity in my shop. However, those shafts would eventually be warpers anyway so it's best it happens in my shop than with the buyer's. They warp because of internal stress, and that stress is compounded or alleviated depending on humidity changes. If the shafts have no stress, they virtually never warp. In a controlled environment I may never know which shafts are good & which are not. And even with my "weeding out" process, I still get a few shafts back that warped. It's wood. It has no rules to follow no matter what attention we pay to keeping it straight.

Just being in Arizona is enough to cause warpage. No matter what precautions you take, the humidity levels there are much lower than almost anywhere else in the country. The wood will eventually acclimate & stabilize. The better sealed up it is, the longer it will take. But it will eventually happen.
