I remember a series of posts when someone tried browbeating Pechauer into making
short spliced cues rather than cnc. I can't seem to find this in the archives, does anyone remember this??

Oh selective memories.

Pechauer didnt want to make sharp-pointed cues, but in the same thread said it was easier to make.

JimBoCt did the agressive wordsmith game saying that if they’re easier, and you can sell them, why wouldnt you? Jerry could have just as easily said that he didnt want to, didnt like the look, wasnt his thing, etc...

Jerry for I dont know why decided to build a few sharp-pointd cues to bring to SBE, maybe to prove he could build them. They all sold immediately. Go figure.

Anyone who was part of RSB with any hopes of buying one had no chance.

My favorite post of Smorg's was the one about beating Billy Bob Something-or-other out of his "Bob". If you run across that one please cut/paste it.

pj <- could use a little Smorg about now

It was reposted here by The Saw after Doug passed.

I read it but didn't participate. I didn't care for the layout. I found the totally unfiltered posts foul but amusing. I guess by the time I started reading it, it was almost dead.

I participated in Billiards Digest Cue Chalk Board, which was a format similar to AZB. Fast Larry came on a few times with his crazy stuff and that's how I found out about AZ Billiards. I guess he terrorized all the forums.

I just missed rsb. I had discovered the Monk forum. I knew of rsb but only looked a few times. It was at that time that I discovered Azb. Probably about 1996 or so.

I was also there starting from 97 I think as a young university student discovering the wonders of the internet. And participated in a couple of Internet Equal Offense tournaments as well. 20 years has gone fast....

I'm quite sure that had I been playing pool back then, I would have found the group. Once I started playing, I began googling pool related sites to learn more, so I expect that I would have found that group just as I found AZB.

I was there. Under my actual name, the same as I use here. Fond memories of JB’s first challenge match with Jimbo....

I was pretty active in both until that goof ruined them! Can't remember his name now but I'm glad he's barred from the current groups. I believe in "free speech" but not when someone uses it abusively.

I was on there but didnt participate a whole lot. Too many theoretical posts and not much action. Jimbo was an exception and then there was FL unfortunately. I did order one of my first custom cues on rsb from a newbie cuemaker murray tucker aka wood butcher. Still play with that cue today...good times.

I remember when I first came to RSB, I had dial-up modem. RSB was my first experience posting on the Internet. When I read some of the posts, my blood began to boil and I responded to all of them consecutively, boom-boom-boom-boom.

The only problem was that most times, my reply posts might not show up until a day later because I was on dial-up modem.

One time I was responding to you, Lou, and my posts did not appear until a day later. You must have had a fast Internet connection and wrote something like, "Waiting for the reply," which was not forthcoming.

Maybe dial-up modems were a good thing. It would give people a chance to think more clearly between posts -- and calm down. ;)

It was like the old joke about monks in a monastery that were only allowed to say one sentence a year. One year a monk says, "I hate peas." The next year the next monk says, "I love peas." A year goes by the a third monk says, "I'm sick and tired of all this talk about peas."

I was there too. I went to the Jimbo Jambo and we had an event here in Denver at the old Family Fun Center.
