If Chamat wins, he'll have 4 games and advance. Manalo and Hohmann will both have 3 wins, but Manalo has a higher percentage and will advance.

Manalo is guaranteed a spot. You happened to notice that Chamat and Hohmann are playing each other right? One of them will have to lose.

it goes by total games before winning percentage

Chamat messed up on his last ball to beat Hohmann. Hohmann hooked him, then ran out, and then broke and ran 2 racks to steal the match 8-7 to put him through over Chamat with Manalo in the same group getting through.

Stalev beat Appleton 8-4 and it looks like he'll replace him on percentage on 3 wins a piece.

but if there tied with matches won it then goes to games won for the forst tie breaker then if its still tied it goes by winning percentage

Wow talk about heartbreak on Chamat's part. Thanks for the update, Colin!

If they're [sic] tied in matches, it goes to their overall winning % first. Then goes to Break-and-runs. Then goes to 8-balls on the break, to determine who advances.

Manalo advances. Will advance. Has advanced.

Can someone explain why Alcano advanced over Adkins in group 73 with the same # wins and a lower percentage of games won???

This was what Adkins thought as well because (I read it in another thread) he saw the percentage on the board onsite that says he has a higher percentage than Alcano. So Adkins came in this morning thinking he made it through but was told he did not.

I rechecked the link below and it says alcano had a lower percentage than Adkins but I am pretty sure he had something like 55.4% yesterday and now it is 52.4%.

Can somebody please clarify?

First, I refer you to this thread...

To confirm that Alcano actually did have a higher winning percentage yesterday, you have to do a bit of math. You have to take the number of wins and losses that Alcano accumulated today, and subtract it from his total stats. Then you have to recalculate the winning percentage.

From my math, his record after the conclusion of yesterday's round was 128-101, which gave him a 55.9% winning percentage. You may want to check my quick math.

I was standing next to Dee during Alcano's match and he told me he was safely through, but when I looked at the boards after the match I wondered if he was right.

It is very sad to hear he must have spent all night planning his next day only to be told he hadn't made it in the morning.

There needs to be improvements in this tie-breaking reporting system. When a final match is played, it should be clear to all players and viewers what the consequences of that match are.

Imagine a soccer match where you don't fing out if you win until hours after the match. Just not appropriate for a sporting event which relies on building tension.

How would the TV commentary look if a player jumps up and down after a match and in the next part we are told he was eliminated. Or the reverse, a player who wins his way through but doesn't celebrate because he doesn't know if his result is good enough.

This tournament is fantastic, but it can improve in this and other aspects.

Nice post. I agree with you, this event built excitement at an incredibly high level.

I do believe the newness of this organization has surprised me with such tremendous well thought out structure. It is very easy to sit back and to criticize. I could not imagine the levels of details that we are unaware of that they so keenly already thought of. Even today organizations that have been around for a 100 years are still making improvements. IMO they are doing a fantastic job.

However I expect a little more out of you Colin next time. Good showing.
