Nobody showed more in the 2006 nine ball season that Ralf Souquet. He won the Derby City 9-ball event, won the BCA Open and finished 2nd at the WPC. Nobody comes close to matching that nine-ball playing resume for 2006. Case closed. Ralf Souquet is #1.

For all-around games, Hohmann and Reyes merit consideration, but you said nine-ball.

Where's Yang? It seems that Yang and Orcollo are going to play for the title of "world's best money player." If one was #1, you would think that the other would at least be on the list. Not a bad list though!

Agreed. Also, don't forget his victory in the World Pool Masters competition. It seems he repeated a lot of performances this year. He's won 4 times at the World Pool Masters, has now become the only repeat-winner of the BCA Open, and claimed the DCC 9-ball title for the second time in only three years. Way to go, Ralf!

Ralf Souquet

i've been in retirement from pool in 94, i seen Ralf Souquet play in LA at the Bicycle club in a tournment and a few other spots, I havent seen him play live since then, but from what i've seen on TV he is ALOT stronger now than before, I like his fundmentals and rhythom(SP?) he is very mechnical. He has a good handle his emotions too, Archer looks like he has a golfers tan, and you dont get better playing pool by playing golf.

Efrens game is better than Ralf's but thats just natural talent, so my $$$'s on "Bata"

No Yang? Many top world players, Taiwanese, Japanese, Singaporean, and asian will tell you Yang Ching-Shun is real taiwan no.1 and even top 2 players in Asia. Believe me, Yang's games can grab your eyes easily. He is also Wu's and many young taiwanese players' idol.

How does Corey Deuel get on these top lists of anyone? Yes he is a great 9ball player, but I don't think I would even put him top 20.

A- I once watched Cory practice years ago for maybe 3 hours. I know He ran 100 balls, put together a 5 pack...twice, then practiced different breaks and was parking the CB most every time with a soft break and hammer break. I don't remember seeing him miss a shot he wasn't "messin" with. Cory could be anywhere on the list, but definitely in the top 25 IMO.

Like any of maybe 50 players, 9ball is about who is in dead pop, has a backer, feels good/wants to play and has their break working! We all have our favorites, its like asking what is the best drink at the bar ( vodka rocks BTW:) )....my rent check would be on these guys.

I'm talking putting a player in with my retirement account:
Efren
Archer
Earl
Bustamante
Hopkins/Hall/Rempe/Varner/Sigel/and Keither with the either.... sentimental favorites I know, but they would find a way to win!

fun thread,
Gerry
