Cursing?

Unwritten forum rules?

Is there some unwritten rule about cursing in the forums? I checked the "Forum Rules" thread and there was nothing mentioned, yet there is a complete absence of any cursing in any thread I have read. Instead people say "sh1t and b1tch" etc. I've been following along, but normally I swear like a sailor. I feel like I'm censoring myself.

You should censor yourself to a point. There are people here of all ages. I think most of us do our best to keep it clean. Don't get me wrong, I don't know anyone with a filthier mouth than mine, I could make a whore blush, but I keep it mostly clean here for the kids.

Great post Mully, i've been known to cut loose myself and I have to watch my company when I get the urge to let a few 4 letter words go. There are posters male and female of all ages on this forum and we should watch our language........

The forum sensors certain words with asterisks. example (I didn't type any asterisks) ****, *****, you can get away with ass though.

Hello Baxter.

Couple of thoughts....

Do you track loads of mud into your house when you get home? Do you tramp lots of mud into your local poolroom when you get there? Do you wash your hands before eating? See what I'm getting at? Nothing wrong with keeping things clean.

And if you've managed thus far, then so far, so good. I mean really, how hard is it to express yourself without using vulgarities or swearing thru the whole post?

Everyone here at AZB can probably cuss up a storm if we chose to. But most of us here are mature enough to be able to discuss things, describe things or tell a story that can be read by any of the numerous kids who frequent here. Or the gracious ladies who also frequent here for that matter.

I don't think you're censoring yourself. I think you're being a respectable member here. Keep up the good work!

I have used what would be consisered inappropriate language at times and try, for the most part, to keep curse words to a minimun, but believe me, it could be a lot worse and I'm sure I speak not only for myself but for many, many others here, as well.
This is a public forum, and as such a member should act the same here as he or she would in any other public setting.
Good point Mully. :)

Mully does make a good point. And Neil took it a step further, to show you that it is actually in the rules. I curse a moderate amount in my daily life, but I find that it comes from habit, not necessity. When I'm typing, I have to make a conscious effort to type a curse word.

That being said, it takes more work to curse on here than it does to simply omit it. Do it for the kids :)

The honest truth versus the dishonest truth

This is out of context ,off course ,but I thought i'd throw this in here for a chuckle.

You know what, you can go choke on a d*ck. What I said is the honest truth.
Don't try to question my integrity when you don't even f-ing know me.

It's good that your following along , Baxter.

Everytime you want to yell curse words, just yell, "Bologna fudge and mustard!" instead. Guarantee you'll feel better.

Swapping words

I used to help my cousin work cows in the spillway now and then. These weren't dairy or pasture cattle, some were six or eight years old and had never seen a human. Chasing these things was tough work and required a good horse. My cousin's horse was named Black but although he yelled at it all day chasing cows and calves you would have never realized the horse's actual name, lots of language of the blue variety!

One weekend I'm helping out and he is doing a lot of hollering as usual but it is "Praise the Lord" and "God bless America", things of this nature. I asked him what the deal was when we stopped to rest the horses.

His first born, a little girl, was of an age when she was starting to walk and talk pretty good. One day her grandmother overheard the baby sweetly calling her daddy's cow dog, crooning "Come here Toby, come here you son of a b!tch you, come here Toby". Only two days later she wanted to go out and play and asked her grandmother very politely, "Open the damned door please." Her grandmother wasn't happy and my cousin figured this was just the tip of the iceberg if he didn't clean up his language the baby was overhearing.

Swearing for the sake of swearing just waters down your posts and adds nothing to help make your point.

We're better without it.

Swear words can add a level of descriptivness and emphasis not possible without them. For example. If I said, "I don't like you.", compared to "I don't f-ing like you.", which one has more emphasis and embraces more emotion? And I'm not trying to argue or change the "rules", but I guarantee these kids see worse things on the internet and on tv everyday than a few swear words on a message board. Just sayin.
