I got it.
My first cue he made for me was identical to a Balabushka.
Many of his original cues were later passed off as Balabushkas.
For the money, (and a lot more money) he makes the best "Old School" piloted steel joint cues. JMHO. He specializes in Balabushka style

Not for sale at this time. I had it made a few years back from a one-piece 1950s house cue.
Actually the best cue maker to make that cue for you retired last year. Jerry Rauenzahn was the true master
making replicas, tributes, copies or whatever you want to call cues of classic Balabuska design. Since Jerry
isn’t available, and truly in his own right every bit just as talented, perhaps even more so creatively speaking,
is Bob Owen. I own cues from both cue makers and the cues used classic designs that are fancier than most.
You will not be disappointed with having Bob Owen build a cue. Aside from Joel Hercek, Bob is my favorite.

I'd have to say Showman is the best for Bushka or Szam designs. Might be a long wait though
Buying a cue predominantly on looks is a big mistake, unless you are lookimg for something to stick in storage.

Man you were not wrong. Bob Owen's makes some really nice old school looking cues.
I would say grab all the names that have been posted so far and reach out to all of them, there's not a name posted that I wouldn't trust in building a cue.
For that particular cue - I'd start with Bob Owens (simply because I love his work and want to own one of his cues someday) and then put the rest in a hat and pull out the lucky winner, you can't go wrong.

I made acquaintances with Bob thanks to Dean. From the moment I first spoke with him on the phone to discuss a cue,
I could tell he was different from other strangers I called, or businesses that answered the phone. When Bob said how
can I help you, man, I had no idea how generous he would be with his time and patience discussing the cue design I
had in mind and answering all of my questions, as well as offering suggestions. I knew after my initial phone call that he
was a rare cue maker and one I really wanted to do business with. Throughout the building of my cue, Bob sent photos
of its progress and there was always opportunity to call him with any questions. And Bob answers the phone too. He is
polite, honest and dependable as the sunrise coming up every day. When he says your cue will be ready by....you can count on it happening. And Bob’s talents are amazing. With Bob Owen you also get creativity & flawless workmanship.
Yup, if I were going to order another cue, Bob is the man I’d want to undertake building it. He is absolutely the best!
