Price would depend upon a number of things.

1 Type of wood you want in the forearm and butt sleeve.
2 Type of boxes you would want also. with or without veneers. material used
3 Type of joint
4 Is there going to be any ring work in the cue. If so what design
5 is it going to be a wrapped cue or wrapless
6 if wrapless what kind of wood . Segmented or not.
7 if wrapped Linen or leather. if leather what kind
8 How many shafts type of ferrules and tips
9 butt cap material.
10 joint pin you want

These will get you a start on what your looking for
If I was you I would get together everything that you want and post it on here. And I am sure that your will get some prices.

Of feel free to call any one of us for a price.
It is against forum rules to post prices here in this section.

I hope this helps you!

Thank you Patrick, but I already know exactly what the specs of the cue are and how many factors there are that go into the cost of a custom cue build and what it is exactly that I'm looking for a custom cue.

I have been shooting pool since I was 5 and have learned alot about the sport, including what is involved with building a custom cue as I'm planning on learning to build my own custom cues in the next few years as a hobby to do when I'm at home.

Thank you again and if you may be interested in quoting a price on the cue build, then please feel free to fire me a PM as I appreciate all price quote responses from cuemakers.

If you know all the specs, why not simply post them?

I dont know how to build cues and I have never built a cue, but I am going to tell you how to build a cue thread

Well it's obvious that you don't know how to keep your nose out of a thread that is nothing to do with you.

Cuemakers need only reply to this thread in future, pointless replies are not wanted or welcome in this thread.

Thank you.

i really hope you find a builder for your cue

there are too many guys that think they know what is involved in building cues and they don't have a clue. i have converted, built from blanks, or made from scratch over 400 cues in the last 20 years and i am still trying to learn. i have been playing for 65 years, yes 65 YEARS. when i get approached by some one that tells me he doesn't know how to run a lathe or has never built a cue then he proceeds to tell me how to make a cue i am astonished !!!!

patrickcues answered your question, but with your answer to him i think you are going to get a lot less quotes from builders.

I'm not sure that you know this or not, but desi2960 is Chuck Starkey, and he is a cue maker. As is Patrick Cues, Doug Patrick.

You've had more than one respond and ask for the more information. It's information they would need in order to quote you a price. I think you have, or at least had, some cue makers who were interested in quoting a price for you. Why don't you answer there questions?

If you don't want to post it, then send it to them. They can reply back to you with a price. It is against forum rules to post prices here, so they will have to communicate with you via email or pm, or phone.

Sorry if it seems like I'm ragging on you, I'm not. I'm just trying to help you get what you want.

Ive been contacted via Facebook by Willie for a price quote on this cue. I gave him two quotes with different inlay materials used- Im usually pretty low on prices!

He cant understand why USA cuemakers prices are much higher than overseas (Phillipines, Indonesia, etc) and feels its better to buy from overseas! With this mentality, any USA cuemaker will be able to get in the price range he wants!

Noted and appreciated responces.

The problem I have Micheal is that I'm asking for price quotes for a custom cue to be made, but at the same time I know what goes into cuemaking as well as the cost of the materials that would be used to build the cue.... and so, I can't help wanting to make sure that whichever cuemakers I get price quotes from, that I'm going to be getting a fair and realistic price and not one that is inflated because of how much money that cue collectors have been lashing out for the past 20+ years for custom cues.

Cue Specs are as Follows:-

1. 60" cue w/ 2x matching solid maple shafts, (30"/30" split).

2. 19oz total weight.

3. Ebony Forearm and Butt sleeve.

4. Solid black Irish Linen wrap that is polished over for a wrapless feel.

5. All White inlays, white joint collar ringss and ferrules to be made of white juma.

6. All White juma diamond inlays to be straight sides, instead of curved, to help save time when building the cue.

7. Butt cap and central joint collar made of black juma.

8. Flat-Faced joint with 3/8-10 Stainless Steel pin.

9. 2x matching 30" shafts, solid maple with pro taper, 13mm white juma ferrules and 13mm Triangle cue tips.

10. Black Juma 1x2 JP's with white juma collars at the joint facing.

I would also need to know build time, if there are any waiting lists for your custom cues and the shipping cost to Northern Ireland, UK.

This is the list of specifications.

I'm sorry for any of replies being somewhat blunt and perhaps a bit impatient, but with being in the UK and there being a serious lack of capable cuemakers who know how to make a good pool cue, I'd rater go elsewhere that will allow me to have the custom cue I want, for the best price possible, hence why I have been posting this thread to request quotes from cuemakers via PM, but in all honesty, I didn't want to post the cue specs, so that I would have a better chance of getting a fair price and not an inlfated price because of the design of the cue.

Thank you.

Unfortunately with pool cues, the sum is generally grater than the parts. $150 in wood, juma, and some metal parts gets you no closer to a cue than a box of rocks without a lathe. Experience and tooling is the "hidden" cost that you might not be aware of. Or the fact that the $5 piece of maple for a shaft has been hanging for 3 years with minimal turning every few months. Wood needs to be seasoned otherwise it'll turn.

Example statement:
I understand the costs of the parts involved to fix my car/plumbing/HVAC/guitar/computer, so please give me a realistic quote.

Not going to happen.

Plus, if you come asking for help, ie price quotes, be polite to the guys that make the cues. Rudeness is an easy way to get an inflated price.

After the responses, especially to Chuck, I can see why you don't have a cue maker starting on your build. :yikes:

Actually, I have had a few messages with price quotes so far, which are all noted and appreciated.

In all fairness and respect though, I don't appreciate anyone making somewhat smart ass remarks when they are not called for.

Secondly, I had already asked in my OP that I wanted to discuss the cue specs and prices via PM and not by public forum, which is my right of choice.

Finally, I'm pretty much already aware that at least 90% of cuemakers in the US wouldn't be able to make the custom cue for less than $1,000, but at the same time I prefer t give everyone the benifit of the doubt and the chance to prove me wrong and by giving as many cuemakers as possible to have a potential custom cue order, but if no-one here posting in this thread wants my custom, then I have no problem going elsewhere.

I appologise to Chuck for my initial response to his post as I thought he was some random AZ member chiming in and trying to be a smart ass and of course I was wrong in that line of thinking.

Willie.
